SLV Munich (www.slv-muenchen.de), a major welding research institute in Germany, and welding company Pulsar Ltd (www.pulsar.co.il), Israel, will co-host a conference on magnetic pulse welding on 3 July 2008. The conference will detail the latest developments and practice of industrialized magnetic pulse welding and forming. At the event, SLV will present its recent acquisition, the Pulsar MPW 25 9 model. The 3 rd steel tube and pipe conference (www.metalbulletin.com/events) will take place from 27-29 May in Istanbul, Turkey. Organized by Metal Bulletin, the conference will address topics including offshore production facilities, OCTG supply and demand, linepipe supply and demand, steel making costs (ie for API plate), seamless production in China and India, and analysis of the welded pipe and seamless tube markets. Delegates will also be able to examine the markets for engineering and automotive applications.

Sandvik Materials Technology (www.smt.sandvik.com/ uk) will sponsor the British Stainless Steel Association 2008 conference, which will be held this year at the Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth, UK. The conference – titled ‘Stainless steel – building the future’ – will take place from 19-20 June. The 2008 Dongguan international exhibition on foundry & diecasting industries (www.worldtradeexpo.com.hk) will be held from May 21-23, 2008. Organised by the Hong Kong Foundry Association and Hong Kong Diecasting Association, the exhibition will be staged in Dongguan, China.

InterPart , Surfacts and MediPart (www.dreifachmesse.de) will take place from 3-5 June 2008 in Karlsruhe, Germany. The trio of events is designed for the automotive, engineering, and medical-technology sectors. InterPart is targeted at automotive- component makers, Surfacts is the international trade show for surface technologies, and MediPart is for precision components for medical-device manufacturers. Roll-Kraft (www.roll-kraft.com), USA, recently conducted a one-day, in-house seminar at the Valtimet facility in TN, USA, with nearly 80 employees in attendance. Valtimet is a major producer of stainless steel and titanium tubular products in the industry. The 4 th TeijinAramidEuropeanConference (www.teijinaramid. com) will be held from 26-28 May 2008 at the Kurhaus Hotel in Scheveningen, the Netherlands. Titled ‘Use of Aramid as elastomer reinforcement’ , the event will cater to the European elastomer-reinforcement market and production chain. EuroLITE 2008 (www.eurolite-expo.eu) – the 2 nd international specialist trade fair for lightweight design – will be held from 24-26 June 2008 in Salzburg, Austria. The exhibitor stands, which cover all the aspects of lightweight construction, will be supplemented with a special area

dealing with ‘joints and connections’.
