Interpipe opens warehouse facility in Dubai Interpipe, a leading producer of steel pipes and railway wheels, has announced the opening of a warehouse facility in Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai (UAE). The new warehouse will be an important resource for the company’s growing business in the Middle East, a business that grew by 40 per cent during the first six months of 2007. The new Interpipe facility will provide a wide range of the company’s pipe products for the oil and gas, construction (fire fighting, air conditioning, water transportation systems), housing, and other industries. It is aimed at helping to reduce delivery times for customers across the region. Vera Smal, director of sales for pipes with industrial application, said of the move, “Interpipe has more than seven years ’ experience in the Middle East, supplying its products to a number of Gulf-based customers. When we opened our regional headquarters in Dubai last year, we strongly felt the need for warehouse facilities in the region. The international Caspian oil and gas exhibition and conference will take place from 3-6 June 2008 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Celebrating its 15 th anniversary, the event will again provide a gateway to the lucrative Caspian energy market. Official support comes from the Azerbaijan government (Ministry of Industry and Energy), and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan. The only industry event of its kind in Azerbaijan, the last event attracted 360 exhibitors and more than 10,000 trade visitors from 56 countries. The last conference attracted 500 delegates. The event welcomed large trade delegations from China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Norway, Turkey, UK and USA. Exhibit topics will include reservoir engineering, oil and gas wells, platforms and floating rigs, oil and gas equipment, pipe-laying and protection systems, refining

and petrochemicals, oil and gas storage systems, and specialist techniques. Azerbaijan and the Caspian area is regarded as one of the most favourable arenas for foreign investment in the region. The area received over US$14bn between 2004 and 2007, involving 22 major oil agreements with consortiums of foreign oil companies. Major regional pipelines are currently in the process of construction, including the BTC oil pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan) and the BTE gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).
