quality but would also optimise their production process while reducing costs. Since its implementation in March 2017, the Profilemaster ® SPS has revolutionised Store Steel Slovenia’s production lines. The system’s ability to provide fast and precise measurements has reduced technical downtime by just over two per cent. The most substantial savings, however, have been during the setup of
IN the demanding world of steel production, precision and efficiency are crucial to success. Store Steel Slovenia, an important company in the steel industry, has demonstrated how the use of advanced technology can lead to cost savings and enhanced production capabilities. This has happened since it started using the Profilemaster ® SPS system from Zumbach Electronic AG. The Profilemaster ® SPS system, which is designed for real-time monitoring of complex steel profiles, proved to be the ideal solution for its needs. The advanced measuring solution from Zumbach Electronic uses from four to eight cameras to capture and measure the production line’s profile contours, with the ability to work in exceptionally hot conditions up to 1,200°C. The Profilemaster ® SPS’s high sampling rate and temperature-stabilised measuring capabilities ensure maximum accuracy and early detection of process issues. The production of steel profiles is inherently delicate and cost intensive, with quality assurance and product specification being paramount for both manufacturers and end customers. Store Steel Slovenia sought a solution that would not only improve its product HEXAGON has announced an agreement to acquire Septentrio NV, a market leader and OEM provider of global navigation satellite system (GNSS) technologies, to drive innovation and expand the market reach of resilient assured positioning solutions. Combining Septentrio’s pioneering GNSS platform with Hexagon’s extensive positioning portfolio, including sensor fusion, anti-jamming, correction services and perception technologies, will enable cutting-edge solutions for diverse markets and applications. This will ensure greater accessibility to high accuracy and high performance positioning technology with low size, weight and power characteristics.

rolling stands during product changes. With the contour measurement capabilities of the Profilemaster ® SPS, operators can bring products into tolerance more quickly, reducing the time and wasted materials associated with setup. The impact of these improvements has been huge. Over a period of 21 months, Store Steel Slovenia achieved extra sales capacity, thanks to the increased production capacity enabled by the Profilemaster ® SPS. The return on investment for this system was realised in just a few months, underscoring its value and efficiency. The Profilemaster ® SPS has This will accelerate the adoption of autonomous systems in existing markets and address the needs of emerging high growth segments like robotics, UAVs, autonomy and other mission-critical applications. Septentrio has built its reputation on innovation and customer focus and will together with Hexagon continue to operate its business model of supplying GNSS technology and products to its large base of industry leading OEM customers. “The combination of Hexagon and Septentrio will transform the positioning industry across existing and new markets, setting new standards for the accuracy, resilience and scalability of
enhanced products quality as well as facilitating faster process optimisation. The system’s comprehensive reporting capabilities have allowed for detailed analysis that has enabled continuous improvement, ensuring Store Steel Slovenia remains at the forefront of the steel industry. By investing in Zumbach’s innovative measurement solutions, Store Steel Slovenia has not only improved its operational efficiency, but also reinforced its commitment to delivering high quality steel products to its customers.
