New compact welding head THE MW range of closed welding heads from Polysoude is designed for high-productivity applications without filler wire, combining a compact and ergonomic design with high duty cycle. In response to the needs of the food and pharmaceutical industry, chemical production lines and other applications where ultra-compact welding heads are required, Polysoude has developed the MW 34 with reduced size and new technological improvements. mounted in the clamps, ensuring that the two parts to be assembled are held on both sides of the weld joint. The 1T version allows clamping with a single set of inserts, but the gas shielding around the weld joint is provided by protection flanges. This version is useful for places where restricted space may hinder welding operations. Its range of use from 6 to 34mm makes the tool suited not only to the pharmaceutical, food and traditional chemical industries, but also to aeronautics, biochemistry and microelectronics. TheMW34 is available in two versions. Version 2T has two sets of inserts, each
These clamp inserts adapt to tube di- mension tolerance variations while en- suring non-contamination. The standards and regulations governing the food and beverage sector subject manufacturers to increasingly exacting quality demands. For this reason, Polysoude has devoted several years to developing orbital welding solutions using the TIG process, which allows the company to fully comply with EHEDG recommendations and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards. The process is stable and reliable, with or without a filler wire, and can be used on all types of material. It works with a wide variety of welding heads and Polysoude welding power sources, and covers all pipe sectors. For welding applications in a clean room, Polysoude can complete the installation with its P4-3 power source and optional remote touchscreen. The operator can select the welding mode, then program and monitor the welds without leaving the room, limiting the risk of contamination.
The welding heads have been designed to meet the requirements of high- purity markets. The MW 34 bridges the gap between the UHP series, mainly designed for welding of micro-fittings, and the MW series, which is mainly for the agro-food, pharmaceuti- cal and chemical industries, among others. The MW 34 offers the size advantage of a UHP 1500 head and the productivity of an MW weld- ing head. It also features the same titanium clamp inserts as the UHP 1500, which have a lifetime guarantee.

Cast polyurethane production PIEFFE was founded in 1947 as a manufacturer of technical items made of rubber for the automotive and motorbike sectors. With ongoing research and new technologies, cast polyurethane has become the company’s main field of production to date. Pieffe’s production also includes the polyurethane and rubber coating of wheels, rollers, cylinders and drums of any hardness and colour with dimensions of up to 1,250mm in diameter and 5,000mm in length. Thanks to a modern and well-equipped mechanical department, Pieffe can supply clients with such items inclusive of cores and metallic parts.
Pieffe’s warehouse features a wide range of semi-finished materials for the normalised expeller industry, such as square sections, plates, and constant thickness centrifuged sheets. Pipes, rods and plates of any dimension are produced on request. Pipes and flanged curved elements used in the transportation of highly abra- sive and sharp materials are produced with the company’s polyurethane products. Results have been achieved in terms of noise reduction thanks to the integral polyurethane coating provided.
The company has concentrated its core business on cast polyurethane, creating a series of production lines ranging from very low hardness polyurethane (5/10 shore ‘A’) to higher hardness levels (85/90 shore ‘D’). With flexible production plants, Pieffe is able to guarantee the production of polyurethane small parts, as well as large-sized and complex manufactured items. These can range from small- scale production (starting from single prototypes) to large-scale.
The company recently installed a new line for the coating of rollers, cylinders and drums using a wide range of elastomers. The plant, which operates alongside the established PU coating line, has been developed using the latest technological advances, and is capable of coating rollers of up to 1,500mm in diameter and lengths of up to 5,500mm.
