Tube software from Germany THE new 3DTubeCAD tube software offers the increased benefits of the new Windows 8 technology but is also compatible with Windows 7. Pull-down menus are no longer word-commands, but icons to click on. Therefore the software does not necessarily need a computer with a keyboard; it also runs on a tablet computer with touchscreen and can be used in a wireless environment. The software designer Klaus Leistritz said the technology offers quick and efficient support in emergency situations as well as for everyday maintenance and updates. He will also offer personalised advice to those with questions regarding the tube software. The software works with a new freehand measuring system, developed for measurements in spacious working areas, in which the leapfrog function of usual measuring systems may take too long and may become less precise due to the repetitive interruption of the measurement procedure. With Preci 3D gun it is possible to measure with an infrared fork, easy to manoeuvre with a pistol grip. The Preci 3D Scan is a laser, which is integrated into a slightly volumous handle and measure laserline, tactile and laserscanning. Preci 3D Robogun is specifically developed for robot-measurement, robot teaching and real-time robot tracking. The usual measuring arms and measuring cells can also be run with 3DTubeCAD using a different interface.

Tube inside scarfing technology

FOR more than 30 years Alpha Metall has developed and manufactured turnkey tube inside scarfing systems (mounting unit, impeder, mandrels) for tube ID 14 – 610mm (up to 24") – made of carbon steel, stainless steel, and high strength steel grades. The service life of the machinery is more than ten years with competent maintenance. Additionally, Alpha Metall offers a revision of old tube ID scarfing systems and mandrels. Original Alpha Metall cutting rings provide a perfect scarfing result. The integrated ID bead breaker process with nick wheel, with adjustable notching depth, provides small chips from scarfed ID bead for easy removal with pressure water. Because of the high technical and commercial efficiency, more than three hundred Alpha Metall tube inside scarfing systems have been installed in tube mills all over the world.
