As well as providing laser equipment, Rofin develops new processes together with its customers, such as the welding of deep-water tubes made of highly corrosion-resistant Duplex material or the welding of filler wires.

180mm / 18.0cm - Width The FL series, with lasers up to 6kW, is characterised by its beam quality and efficiency. With fibre lasers, small tubes of 0.07-1mm wall thickness can be welded. Various materials, including PWS achieves position accuracies of a few µm at production speeds of up to 60m/min. Laser welding of tubes and profiles provides narrow seams with fine-grain structures and narrow heat affected zones. This means that the heat treatment needed for further processing is often not required. In contrast to conventional TIG welding, non-contact laser welding can achieve higher process speeds. The welded seams withstand high stress levels without tearing. Rofin will also present a CO 2 laser from the DC series for welding of tubes with 1-3mm wall thicknesses. The company states that lasers of the DC series have excellent beam quality and robust, low-maintenance design. From the new fibre laser generation – with smaller, wall-mountable housing and improved fibre handling – Rofin will show the FL 020 with 2kW output power.

Germany SCHWARZE-Robitec is increasing its range of solutions with machines for profile forming, and will present a profile bending machine at its stand at Tube 2014. “The new technology allows three dimensional, torsion superimposed freeform bending of profiles,” explained Bert Zorn, one of the company’s two managing directors.
