Drain Center supplies Media City UK DRAIN Center, Wolseley’s specialist supplier of below and above ground drainage, is supplying a range of products for use in the Media City UK development in Salford, Manchester. Drain Center was awarded the contract by Hirst and Danson Mechanical and Electrical Services to supply Durapipe from its Bolton branch. The product was selected due to speed of installation and excellent sound attenuation properties and will be used on a number of residential apartments which form part of Hirst and Danson Mechanical and Electrical Services’ contract on site. Drain Center is also supplying HE Simm with Polypipe Terrain for soil and waste services for the offices on the site. Drain Center’s sales director David Sorrell said: “We are delighted to be involved in this project, which is a result of continued excellent customer service, reliability and experience and knowledge of the products

specified. With the backing of Wolseley’s established supply chain, we are also able to coordinate deliveries to the strict schedule.” Wolseley insulation business, Encon, has also supplied approximately £500,000 of gypsum plasterboard and Profab wall access panels to the recording and production studios at Media City UK from its Leeds branch to customer Steeltech Systems. In addition, Pipe Center, Wolseley’s specialist supplier of commercial and industrial heating plant and pipe systems, has also supplied various product to the site. The UK’s first purpose-built media city is a 200 acre, former commercial docks site, and will house five of the BBC’s departments when they relocate 1,500 jobs to the site in 2011 as part of the first phase of the development.
