FREQUENTLY, slit strips do not meet the demands of the finishing industry and small strips often have a sabre. Depending on the material and the tensile strength, the strips even sometimes reveal a camber. These strips have to be dressed vertically and/or horizontally so that the edge and the surface can be treated precisely. It is a fundamental condition if high tolerances have to be respected. Welded strips, which have to meet highest qualitative and economic demands, need a preparation of the welded seam in form of strip edge trimming by metal- cutting. This preparation of the welded seam has to guarantee strength of shape and constant quality concerning the contour of the welded strip edges. At this point, the strip has to be flat and straight. So it is recommended to integrate levelling machines at the ingoing side of the strip edge trimming machine. The Julius flat levelling systems straighten strips and eliminate the camber, and strip waviness is reduced.
