The industrial fibre laser marker in a suitcase ROCKLIN Manufacturing has introduced MobiLase, an all-in- one, portable fibre laser marking unit housed in a 45lb rolling suitcase. While laser marking units are typically large, heavy, stationary machines, MobiLase is lightweight and allows for laser marking to be brought directly to the part instead of lugging parts to a laser marking station, eliminating costly downtime and investments in elaborate contraptions to mark large parts. Featuring a powerful, 30-watt fibre laser and a large, 100 x 100mm marking window, MobiLase delivers fast and durable laser markings on nearly any material ranging from plastics to steel to precious metals. The 7lb handheld applicator is equipped with a trigger to start marking plus two bracket options for ease of marking various part shapes. These brackets also enable rapid focusing from a consistent, repeatable distance, which is further optimised by the laser pointer simulator. User-friendly software on the touchscreen PC embedded in the suitcase enables a wide range of easily programmable and potentially intricate markings, including: numbers, letters, characters, time and date, barcodes, 2d codes, QR codes, images, logos and symbols.

Butting announces expansion of facilities BUTTING, a specialist in the production of pipes, pipefittings and pipework prefabrication. has announced it has invested in one of the most modern, fully electric CNC-controlled mandrel bending machines available. Petra Sander, sales manager customised components at Buttings, is delighted with the wide range of production options: “We produce elbows, multiple and free-form bends ranging from OD 30 to OD 130mm. We use pipes made from stainless steel with wall thicknesses of up to 6mm.” Butting can also produce bends according to customer drawings and free-form bends in several planes according to isometric drawings. Various angles and positions can be implemented for multiple bends. The elbows are cold-formed, and no subsequent heat treatment is required. Ms Sander explained: “The use of integrated and multiple bends cuts down on various fittings. It also means less welding and less testing – and so lower project costs for our customers.” “By investing in our new mandrel bending machine, we’ve been able to significantly broaden our options and offer our customers ‘more than pipes’. From pipes to ready-to-install components, we have their requirements covered. A critical advantage for our customers is that we’re one supplier with lots of products,” Ms Sander added.
