Increased tool life THERE are increasing demands in the manufacture of tubes and wires: faster processing times and higher temperatures put additional strain on the applied tools and components, and increase maintenance costs. Durit Hartmetall GmbH has been producing tools made of tungsten carbide for drawing tubes, rods, profiles and wires for many years. These include drawing rings, dies and mandrels, mandrels as rolling and profiling tools, drawing jaws, and straightening and infeed tools, as well as shaving steels for welding seams. The tools are characterised by contour precision and high wear resistance. The company’s experts have developed more than 50 different carbide grades in its in-house research department and in cooperation with universities. Additionally, coatings based on flame- spraying or PVD are offered.

Upon customer request, shaving steels for welding seams, for instance, can be supplied with the Galaxy ® PVD coating.
