Eddy current and ultrasonic non-destructive testing solutions for tubes and pipes

CONTROLE Mesure Systemes is based in France and designs and develops a full range of high performance non-destructive testing (NDT) equipment using eddy current and ultrasonic technology. Controle Mesure Systemes offers in-line and off line turnkey and customised solutions for the inspection of finished and semi-finished products such as tubes and pipes, bars and wires and plates and sheets. The company is part of Controle Mesure Systemes Group along with the well-known Sofratest. It is a real added-value relationship according to the companies, as they both share specific knowledge and experience in the NDT field. Controle Mesure Systemes works with the leading manufacturers in the aeronautic, automotive, oil & gas, nuclear, steel and railway industries worldwide and is present in dozens of countries thanks to an extensive network of agents and a US subsidiary – Controle Mesure Systemes Inc. The company offers a wide range of eddy current equipment for surface and subsurface defect detection, conductivity measurement, heat treatment verification and material sorting. In addition, Controle Mesure Systemes manufactures a wide range of ultrasonic equipment for internal/external defect detection and to perform highly accurate dimensional measurements. The company can also offer a high performance combined NDT bench with eddy current and ultrasonic testing equipment dedicated for tubes and bars. Surface inspection through eddy current and core inspection with ultrasonic allow a full body inspection of the product. Each control bench is specifically designed to fulfil user’s requirements and needs.

Combined eddy current and ultrasonic bench

The entire installation – control instruments eddy current or ultrasonic, software and the NDT generators – is developed by Controle Mesure Systemes. All data from the various NDT equipment is collected by its own multilingual and user-friendly supervision software named Probus. It enables the inspection’s traceability and creates reports per product and per batch. The control bench can be directly integrated either on the production line or located on an off-line inspection station. Controle Mesure Systemes designs and manufactures all of new installations, but can also handle full or partial revamping of existing NDT equipment.

seam, plus the heat affected zone, or even the full body, Sofratest can provide its customers with exhaustive solutions. Several inspection head configurations are available and allow the user to detect longitudinal, transverse defects or lamination ones. Sofratest is well aware that customers need easily understandable data, which is why the company has developed user-friendly software, which allows users to transform raw data into meaningful information. Sofratest will be at stand number A-7 at the Gulf Steel Show in Dubai, UAE for the event being held from 21-23 February 2023.

This France-based company is now part of the Controle Mesure Systemes Group, a relationship that offers added-value to customers, as the two companies can share their specific knowledge and experience in the non-destructive testing field. Knowing that all the industries do not have the same expectations, constraints and requirements, Sofratest offers tailor-made systems to provide them with the most suitable solution.
