SIEMENS PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Digital Factory Division, with over 15 million licensed users and more than 140,000 customers worldwide, has decided to offer CAD Partner’s developed piping design solution as an add-on to 3D CAD Solid Edge. CAD Partner’s Smap3D Plant Design software solution is already established in international plant engineering. With the new Solid Edge version 2019, Siemens PLM utilises CAD Partner’s years of experience. Under the product designation ‘Modular Plant Design’, Solid Edge users can purchase the add-ons ‘Solid Edge P&ID Design’ and ‘Solid Edge Piping Design’. In addition to symbol libraries (ISO/ DIN and ANSI/ISA), the P&ID module contains a symbol generator for propri-

Through the connection to Solid Edge, the designer does not need to change systems: the pipes can be designed directly in Solid Edge.
drawn line elements and creates related pipeline paths. At the same time, the fittings from the standard parts library are placed on these paths and the necessary pipes are generated in between. The to-do list ensures the transfer of already-created information and data via automatic connections between the two modules: exporting or importing separately is no longer necessary. Another time-saving advantage is the definition of pipe specifications. This is done centrally and only once, specific
