Expanded range of workshop saws THE KASTOmicut range of pivot-bow, metal-cutting bandsaws from German manufacturer Kasto has been extended upwards and downwards from the three existing automatic and manually operated models, designated 2.6, for cutting 260mm diameter round stock and 310 x 260mm flat material. The KASTOmicut U 4.6 can saw flat material up to 520mm wide and cut mitres from -45° to +60°, as can the smaller pivot-bow models. Band speed range is even wider – from 12 to 150m/ min – for processing an extensive range of materials.
Kasto has introduced the compact KASTOmicut P 1.8, which is capable of mitring between 0° and +45°. Downfeed rate is determined by manually guiding the saw frame, and the blade is driven by a 1.5kW three-phase motor, ensuring high quality cutting. The shortest cut length is 6mm.
A heavy, torsionally rigid, welded saw frame provides stable support for the blade and allows high band tension, ensuring a good quality cut even with hard-to-machine materials. Various accessories are available including a rotary table to support the material. For users who mainly saw smaller workpieces up to 180mm diameter,
The new KASTOmicut E 4.6 has the capacity to cut 335mm diameter round and 460 x 335mm flat material, and is designed for single-sided mitring at continuously adjustable angles from 0° to +60°. Downfeed is hydraulically controlled and cutting speed can be continuously adjusted between 20 and 110m/min.

Comprehensive tube mill setup video series ROLL-KRAFT has launched a new 14-video series covering all phases of tube mill setup. The company is a supplier of roll tooling to tube and pipe and roll forming manufacturers, and hosts annual tube and pipe and roll forming training seminars that have been attended by hundreds of professionals over the years. breakdown; threading the breakdown and fin section; and threading through the coolant system and sizing. have been documented as successful over the years and are currently used throughout the industry.
In addition to the video series, regional training seminars and events, Roll-Kraft offers on-site tube and pipe and roll forming training programmes at the customer’s location. Conducting an on-site training programme allows the instructors to focus on the mills as they are currently operating, with tooling and staff, and allows interaction with everyday issues and experiences. It is a convenient way to train operators and staff in-house and provide customised guidance for specific situations.
Other subjects featured are validating driven breakdown passes with solder; using the setup chart; setting the side pass stands and breakdown section; setting the fin section; verifying parallelism of driven passes; checking weld size; setting the sizing section; and conclusion: tube mill running smoothly. The videos are presented by Robert A Sladky, vice-president of tube mill engineering at Roll-Kraft. Mr Sladky has been associated with Roll-Kraft for more than 30 years and has spent 49 years working in the tube and pipe industry. All processes and procedures in the videos demonstrate tested practices that
The new video series is accessible for viewing on an easy-to-use video player on the Roll-Kraft website. It is a synthesis of the lessons offered at the seminars, and provides step-by-step instruction in all 14 phases of the tube mill setup process. Topics include pre- setting side roll passes; pre-gapping the breakdown rolls; tapering the end of the strip; centring the strip in the first
