Going Places : Tube India 2008
W ith the second largest population and one of the fastest growing economies, India has always been a complex and enthralling country. The Indian economy is the twelfth largest in the world and is growing at an astounding rate with an estimated GDP growth of 8 per cent for 2007/2008. According to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the average export growth rate in the past five years has been 24 per cent with the export figures for 2007/2008 expected to be circa US$130 billion. Indian industry is gaining an increasingly secure and influential foothold in the world market, as evidenced by Tata’s purchase of Corus and the increasing power of Arcelor Mittal.
Due to the immense and intricate nature of India, planning and establishing a popular and successful exhibition for the tube and pipe industry has not been easy. With initial exhibitions held in Hyderabad that met with mixed success, Tube India 2008 will be held in the improved location of New Delhi. At the heart of India and the seat of government, New Delhi is regarded as a better location for India’s steel industry and substantial manufacturing base.
Tube India and Metallurgy India 2008 will take place alongside Schweissen & Schneiden 2008 from 13-15 February at the Pragati Maidan exhibition venue. To get the show off to a great start, the International Tube Association will also hold a conference in New Delhi on 13 February 2008, titled ‘Pipe Dream India: innovations & technical realities for tube and pipe production’ . Now that Tube India 2008 has found its true home in New Delhi, the exhibition is sure to have a bright and prosperous future. Over the coming pages, Tube & Pipe Technology will present the profiles of some of the companies exhibiting at the new and improved Tube India 2008.
