New hydraulic heavy wall end prep tool

Esco Tool, USA, has introduced a new hydraulic version of its ID clamping welding end prep tool that is suitable for difficult-to- machine materials. The Millhog ® Dictator hydraulic ID clamping tool is designed for machining up to 20" diameter Schedule 160 pipe in the field, and features only eight sets of clamps for the full working range of the tool. Providing 6,500ft/lb of torque, the tool can machine tough material such as chrome- molybdenum pipe and stainless steel without using cutting lubricants.

The tool has a self-centring mandrel, dual opposed tapered roller bearings for rigidity, and uses standard TiN coated cutter blades. Supplying heat exchangers for solar power generation Mahalaxmi Seamless Ltd, India, has secured a $2mn order to supply heat exchanger tubes to be used in Spain’s Andasol Solar Power Plants. The company is a leading manufacturer of heat exchanger carbon and alloy steel cold drawn seamless tubes. Certified to ISO 9000:2001, Mahalaxmi has been selected by CBI, a Dutch government organisation chartered to promote imports from developing countries into the European Union. This selection has led to the company’s cold drawn seamless tubes being accepted by European heat exchanger manufacturers. Mahalaxmi is also compliant with Pressure Equipment Directive and AD 2000 WO, and is expected to receive TS16949 soon. Mahalaxmi supplies products to heat exchanger manufacturers, and the auto- motive and hydraulic industries. A wide range of tubes is offered including heat exchanger tubes, available in grades SA 179, SA192, SA210, SA213-T11, T-12, SA334, SA335, BS 3059, DIN 17175-St 35.8, 37.4, 45.8, 13CrMo44, 15Mo3, and 10CrMo910.
