The 1,000 th instrument was recently delivered to fittings specialists AWG in Germany. The UK’s Institution of Mechanical Engineers (www.imeche.org.uk) has confirmed the appointment of Mrs Ruth Spellman as its new chief executive. Mrs Spellman is the first female chief executive to be appointed at IMechE since it was established in 1847. She succeeds the Institution’s current chief executive, Sir Michael Moore, who is retiring. The supervisory board of SMS GmbH (www.sms-group.com), Germany, has appointed Mr Pepyn R Dinandt as a member of its managing board. Mr Dinandt will be responsible for the plastics technology business area of the SMS group. The scope of supply includes three shiftable coilers, utility systems and the entire electrical and automation systems. The fully hydraulic three-roll coilers are designed for tube grades up to a thickness of 25.4mm. Weld overlay cladding specialist Arc Energy Resources (www.arcenergy.co.uk) has shipped its first direct export order to Iran following the appointment of Tehran- based Pardiskeyan Co Ltd as its agent.
