supply is not available at locations where it is required within the production area. The use of pre-mixed gas cylinders is expensive and – depending on the welding requirements – the need for a number of different gas mixtures can be a necessity. This mixer allows the operator to mix gases with a mixing accuracy of better than ±1 per cent absolute. The gas inlet pressures range between 4.5 and 230 bar and the gas outlet pressure is 3 bar maximum. The mixer is fitted between two gas cylinders, whether they be CO 2 and argon or other gases. It is easily installed using standard cylinder connections for the inlets and G ¼ DIN 8542 for the outlet. Once fitted, the operator sets the required mixture of argon and CO 2 in proportions of 0-25 per cent CO 2 and the balance of argon. When the gas cylinder valves are opened the mixer operates automatically. No additional pressure regulators are required as it is fitted with an integrated pressure control mechanism and safety valves. Flow of the gas mixture is controlled by a metering valve. Single phase 160A multi-process welding power source

Wilkinson Star Ltd, UK, have introduced a new, single phase 160A multi-process welding power source using inverter technology. Branded the Cebora Tri Star MIG1635/M, it is a multi-purpose welder designed for MIG/MAG, MIG brazing, MMA and DC TIG welding using either a 230V 50/60Hz power supply or a generator. The low electrical input makes Tri-Star ideal for a range of applications, including machinery installation and on-site use. When used for MIG/MAG and TIG welding, it is rated at 160A with 35 per cent duty cycle at 40C, whilst for MMA welding it is rated 130A at 35 per cent duty cycle. Using applied technology and built-in synergic programs, and featuring two knob stepless electronic controls and LED display, Tri Star is easy to set up. For MIG/MAG welding, using a 5kg wire spool, the operator simply uses one knob to select the material thickness, wire diameter and type and the shielding gas to be used. The machine then selects the welding program to be used, and welding can commence. Tri Star can be used for welding mild steel, aluminium and stainless steel. When MMA welding, electrodes up to 3.25mm diameter can be used. Optional equipment includes a trolley with power source only, a power source and gas cylinder trolley, TIG welding torch with 4m cable and a two stage regulator. In addition,

a welding accessories kit comprises of an MMA electrode welding torch with 5m cable, earth return lead, welding mask, chipping hammer and wire brush. The package can be supplemented with a comprehensive range of MIG wires including flux cored wires and TIG welding wires, and MMA electrodes available from Wilkinson Star.
