Another time-saving advantage is the definition of pipe specifications. This is done centrally and only once, specific to the company and the project. Pipe specifications determine the affiliation of components such as fittings, or fittings to pipe characteristics such as diameter or medium. CAD Partner’s Smap3D Plant Design software solution is already established in international plant engineering. With the new Solid Edge version 2019, Siemens PLM utilises CAD Partner’s years of experience. Under the product designation ‘Modular Plant Design’, Solid Edge users can purchase the add- ons ‘Solid Edge P&ID Design’ and ‘Solid Edge Piping Design’. In addition to symbol libraries (ISO/ DIN and ANSI/ISA), the P&ID module contains a symbol generator for proprietary symbols, a component database, automatic TAG number query and a design check, eg for completeness and plausibility checks. The Solid Edge Piping Design module evaluates drawn line elements and creates related pipeline paths. At the same time, the fittings from the standard parts library are placed on
