Welcome to the latest Tube Products INTERNATIONAL magazine. In this issue you will find features on plastic & composite tubes & pipes as well as OCTG, gas & pipeline products. The technical article this issue is from the experts at Valve World and looks at recent advances in the design of valves (page 56). Much of what is predicted in the article will be relevant to other areas of the industry and it offers an interesting insight into the future of design. As also mentioned in the article it will not be long before valve and tube samples are able to be 3D printed in factories and offices anywhere around the world or even while out in the field – for example on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean. The more remote the destination, the more this process makes sense. How long will it be before robots are printing spare tube parts on a space station, rather than sending up supply rockets to perform more simple tasks? The magazine team will be at both FABTECH Canada and Guangzhou trade shows in June so please do come and say hello if you are visiting the shows. Canada is a relatively new area for us so it is good to meet those involved in the industry from a country with so many natural resources that require tubes, valves and associated products to transport oil, gas and water across the vast country – and of course also to the US. Next up we have the July issue of the magazine and it will have features on valves, fittings, flanges & connectors as well as steel & stainless steel tubes, copper & aluminium tubes, and corrosion repair & replacement.
