Aqueous cleaning and surface treatment equipment

stage automatic or manual ultrasonic systems, bench-top and floor-standing ultrasonic machines, precision machines with basket rotation and flood options, and tunnel cleaning lines. One range of machines uses a patented system whereby rotation of the holding basket and spray jets is individually adjustable, allowing them to rotate in the same or opposite directions. Programs can be tailored, together with other movement options such as rocking of the basket, to wash even complex parts efficiently. The equipment is aimed primarily at high-precision applications, with the possibility of simulated clean room conditions. Another focus is modular and bespoke, high-precision ultrasonic cleaning machines with automation, using multi- frequency ultrasonics where a single transducer can generate two different ultrasonic frequencies. Consequently, dissimilar components and materials can be handled in the same tank. For processing larger parts, Turbex offers the ACV range of front-loading spray washing and rinsing models. They are particularly used for degreasing, phosphating, paint removal, de-rusting and de-scaling. Manufactured from

At the Surface World Live show, Turbex, a specialist provider of surface treatment lines, industrial washing machines and non-destructive test inspection systems, highlighted its ability to supply problem-solving solutions, including turnkey systems for large-scale production applications and flexible line configurations for processing complex parts. The Turbex product portfolio includes the Galvatek range of surface treatment lines for applications such as chemical cleaning, etching or anodising. More than 600 turnkey installations in over 35 countries have been designed, delivered and installed. Continuous development ensures that technological advances create better and more efficient procedures for industries where precision and fault-free operation are required. The equipment is typically automated and is known for modern technological developments that ensure efficiency, reliability and low emissions. Turbex also supplies aqueous cleaning and drying systems for batch or in-line processing, with more than 100 standard models in the range, including front- and top-loading spray washers, multi-

stainless steel, the machine programme comprises single- and multi-stage units. Standard sizes range from one to three metres in diameter, although larger dimensions are available. The PLC- controlled machines provide a high level of cleaning performance due to their design principles combined with elevated liquid flow rates and spray pressures generated by the powerful pump. Non-destructive FPI (fluorescent penetrant inspection) testing equipment completes the Turbex offering. Through its experience of component cleaning dating back to 1981, the company has developed a knowledge of FPI and the techniques required for testing and reporting. Its systems utilise expertise in automation and process control to provide consistency and traceability. Turbex Ltd – UK

Weld inspection technology used in orbital welding of offshore pipes

in the development of a new advanced technology. Xiris Automation specialises in developing optical systems for quality control for several industries, providing manufacturers with the ability to detect, recognise and interpret quality defects

and quality control to guarantee pipeline weld integrity. Using advanced visual inspection and laser measurement technology from Xiris Automation, the Scanvision HD system is capable of measuring the profile and acquiring very high-resolution images of the root pass weld bead inside a welded pipe. The camera and inspection solution from Xiris Automation, a Canadian specialist in weld monitoring and inspection technology, was inititally successfully implemented in the Scanvision HD system. According to Serimax, this collaboration has resulted

Root pass welding on offshore oil and gas pipes is performed in a harsh environment, and with demanding quality requirements. Offshore pipe- laying contractors demand zero tolerance of welding defects because of enormous environmental liability. Recent years have seen an increase in offshore pipeline complexity and welding quality requirements. Serimax, based in France, is a full- service welding company providing fully integrated welding operations for land- and sea-based pipelines. Its Scanvision HDâ„¢ system provides weld traceability

in their manufactured goods. Xiris Automation Inc – Canada
