Tube handling & logistics
New generation of bundling and packing lines from Germany
Separated bars are not reassembled in layers for bundle forming, but are fed individually to form the bundle. This is done by means of a concept already successfully used in other applications, in which the bars are positioned by specially designed feeding arms. This avoids relative move- ments or line contact between the bars. As an additional benefit, the solution results in low noise emissions.
Increased demands on product quality also involve increased demands with regard to bundling and packing long products in the tube, bar and profile sector. For example, there is a demand for increased surface-protecting handling of sensitive products in the packing sector. In order to meet this demand Bültmann has developed several concepts that differ from those used to date, which work with layer-wise transport of the products. The focus is now on the careful feeding of individual bars into the bundling area.

production control systems, fulfilling further requirements with regard to Industry 4.0. The Bültmann bundling and packing lines can be individually combined or enhanced, for example with automatic strapping, labelling, plastic wrapping and bundle storage equipment. Two basic systems of the machine concept are available: a standard version, and a heavy-duty version for larger, heavier products. Bültmann GmbH – Germany
in either rectangular or hex- agonal shapes. The bundling line is automatically set to the pre-selected bundle shape by the machine control system. The operator is provided with a clearly structured visualisation system, which makes it possible to pre-select individual bundle, shape and quantity specifications. The programs created in this way can be saved as a recipe and can therefore be reproduced at any time. In addition, data interfaces enable linking to higher-level

Queins Machines GmbH, Germany, specialises in the manufacture of heavy duty payoff and take-up stands, to be used for the unwinding/winding of tubes having a diameter between 9.5 and 50mm ( 3 / 8 and 2"). These tubes are mainly used for manufacturing
umbilical cables in the offshore industry. The machines are of floor-traversing type for reel flange diameter of up to 3,600mm (141") and reel weight up to 23 tons (50,000 lb). Other models are manufactured for reel weights up to 300 tons. Further highlights are heavy-duty
