New equipment for mobile crimper The HM 10, now called the S 7, has been featured in the line-up of Uniflex products since 1972. With its slide bearing technology, the S 7 is claimed
to have many advantages for today’s hose workshops. Commonly called the ‘Mickey Mouse crimper’ due to the appearance of its dual handles, at only 90 kg and with a crimp force of 240 tons it is a powerful, lightweight crimper suited to mobile applications. With its new turn plate support (part no 265.2), the S 7 increases workspace and can be stored easily. Requiring only 0.75 kW, the crimper is also environment-friendly. The S 7 can crimp up to 2" R12 hoses, with a maximum crimp range of 82mm, and opening travel of 24mm. The S 7 can be delivered in three phase or single phase, in 12 or 24 volt DC. Valves for steam-assisted gravity drainage Steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) is a process for extracting oil from the Canadian oil sands. These oil sand formations are well below the surface, making the oil only accessible by an in-place extraction process. refining, geothermal, power, chemical, pulp and paper, and mining/steel.
The QuadroSphere’s most prominent feature is its abrasion-resistant ball design. The four recessed surfaces of the ball provide multiple flow paths through the valve and allow self-flushing, to prevent clogging by avoiding high scale and solids build- up, while also protecting the seats from damage. Special machining of the ball reduces the ball-to-seat surface contact, creating less resistance during cycles, and lowering the operating torque. Reduced seat engagement results in up to 70 per cent less wear, improving the performance life of the ball and seats. Val-Matic Valve & Manufacturing Corp – USA valves@valmatic.com www.valmatic.com
SAGD production emulsion switching valves experience the challenge of cycling multiple times per week and providing reliable shut-off while being exposed to emulsion of bitumen, oil, water, gas and sand slurries. The ball design of Val-Matic’s QuadroSphere ® allows flushing of sand and bitumen that may accumulate between the ball and body cavity. It also reduces rubbing/friction between the ball and seats, which decreases operating torque requirements. The QuadroSphere ball valve, in use for more than 20 years, solves difficult application problems in industries such as oil and gas pipelines, marine,
