German trading house for steel pipes and pipe connections turns 75 years old

The Buhlmann Group, a supplier of steel to customers worldwide in the diverse sectors of energy, petrochemical, chemical, oil & gas, shipbuilding and mechanical engineering, has tuned 75 years old. What began as a company supplying the shipbuilding industry in northern Germany has grown significantly and the family business has consistently expanded across all industries – with it now in the hands of the third generation of the family, managing director Jan- Oliver Buhlmann. It is not just the delivery of premium products and services that has led to success, but also the interaction with business partners, which includes groups such as BASF, Shell, RWE, MAN, Meyer Werft and BP. Long-term partnerships are vital to the success of

the Buhlmann Group. In addition, the company, which is headquartered in Bremen, Germany, has extensive know- how in the areas of consulting, project management and logistics and offers its customers full-service solutions from a single source. From Karl August and Mathilde Buhlmann’s modest start in October 1945 in Bremen’s Hohentorshafen in the ruins of the Second World War, to a company with more than 700 people now working for Buhlmann in 18 countries worldwide, it has been a long road marked by an innovative spirit, the company said. Even in the current difficult economic times, which have affected the company as much as other companies in the industry, the confidence to weather this storm remains after 75 years.

Corinth Pipeworks to provide HFW steel pipes for Gulf of Mexico project

Corinth Pipeworks has announced that it has signed an agreement to manufacture and supply steel pipes to Subsea 7 (US) LLC for the development of the King’s Quay project. Murphy Exploration & Production Company – USA, a subsidiary of Murphy Oil Corporation, will operate the project located in deepwater US Gulf of Mexico. The agreement covers approximately 30kms of 16" HFW linepipe to be used for the subsea export pipeline, which

will transport gas from the King’s Quay Floating Production System (FPS) to an existing pipeline system located in the Green Canyon in water depth of approximately 1,250m. It is one of the deepest ever reel-lay, subsea projects to utilise HFW linepipe for a flowline application. The HFW pipes will be manufactured and coated in ultra-long lengths at Corinth’s facility in Greece and delivered directly to Subsea 7’s spoolbase in

Ingleside, TX for fabrication and subsequent reel-lay installation. This award is another significant milestone in Corinth Pipeworks’ offshore presence in the US Gulf of Mexico region, as end-users and lay-contractors are increasingly recognising the benefits of utilising Corinth Pipeworks’ latest welded pipe technology for critical

offshore applications. Corinth Pipeworks www.cpw.gr
