um over a wide frequency spectrum. Designed specifically for harsh environments, they offer high levels of resistance to tolueneandother chemicals present in natural gas compositions, ensuring greater durability, increased longevity, and high levels of accuracy over time. The company has been developing its range to offer sensors within frequen- cies of 100 to 500 kHz for the residential ultrasonic metering market, sensitivities to -50dB or better, and sensors exhibit- ing bandwidths as wide as 50 kHz+ -3dB for a 300 kHz ultrasonic transducer. Charles Dowling, business development manager at CeramTec, explained, “The physical properties of our new sensor technology, combined with our high-volume production capability of sensors and piezo components, leaves us well placed to accommodate the diverse requirements of manufacturers of domestic gas meters. This new technology provides a platform for new and existing meter manufacturers to develop their ultrasonic gas metering solution.” CeramTec UK p.turnbull@ceramtec.co.uk www.ceramtec.com

now respond more quickly to demand for sensors and transducers. While many sensors require manual tuning, CeramTec is engineering solutions that eliminate this need by guaranteeing a greater degree of reciprocity between the devices. This reduces the time and cost investment for manufacturers. The sensors allow for the maximum sound to be transmitted into the medi-

With the ultrasonic gas measurement market expanding due to an increase in accuracy requirements and functionality offered by smart meters, CeramTec is offering fully assembled ultrasonic sensors, resulting in shorter development times for manufacturers. Advancements within CeramTec’s high-volume manufacturing capability and materials expertise mean it can

New casing pipe with unique threaded connections

“TMK has once again confirmed its position as a technology leader in the domestic pipe industry,” said Sergey Chikalov, vice president for technical sales and innovation at TMK. “Only a handful of companies globally can manufacture such connections and provide full after-sales support.” In 2016 TMK’s share in the premium threaded connections segment of the Russian market reached 76 per cent.

connections for casing pipe. The connection is certified to ISO 13679 CAL IV, the highest international industry standard for premium threaded connections, and demonstrates 100 per cent tension and compression efficiency. The connection strength equals the pipe strength, increasing the reliability of a pipe string during construction of wells with complex configurations. The company offers a full range of after-sales services to support the new connections.

TMK, a producer of tubular products for the oil and gas industry, has started production of casing pipe with TMK UP Centum threaded connections, and claims to be the only manufacturer of pipe with such connections. The company shipped the first batch of the new product to Novatek’s Arctic LNG 2 project. The pipes were successfully sunk at the Salmanovskoye (Utrenneye) oil and gas condensate field with the involvement of TMK supervisors. ТМК UP Centum is the latest generation of gas-tight premium threaded
