Larger 303SS air conveyor converts standard pipe to convey in corrosive environments

Threaded Line Vac Conveyors eject a small amount of compressed air to produce a vacuum on one end with high output flows on the other. Response is instantaneous and regulating the compressed air pressure provides infinite control of the conveying rate. Applications include scrap trim removal, material conveying, part transfer, fiber tensioning and filling operations. 2 1 / 2 NPT 303SS Threaded Line Vacs are CE compliant and meet OSHA pressure requirements. The complete size range is 3 / 8 NPT through 3 NPT. Threaded

EXAIR’s new Type 303 Stainless Steel 2 1 / 2 NPT Threaded Line Vac Air Operated Conveyors convert ordinary pipe into a powerful conveying system for parts, scrap, trim and other bulk materials. The new pipes are said to be ideal for food, chemical, pharmaceutical and medical processes or areas likely to be wet and corrosive, which require the benefits of 303SS including excellent chemical and corrosion resistance, performance in higher temperatures, long service life and low maintenance. The pipes are larger in size for conveying bigger parts and large volumes of material over long distances. The Threaded Line Vac is designed to attach to standard plumbing pipe couplers, to make it easy to build a complete system using common pipe and fittings that are readily available. International pipe purging specialists, Huntingdon Fusion Techniques HFT ® has designed and developed a technology to reduce the space that needs to be purged, for pipes as large as 88" (2,235mm). The QuickPurge ® Systems will also reduce the time that welders spend waiting for oxygen levels to be low enough to start welding. Ron Sewell, chairman for HFT, said: “The deflated QuickPurge System is placed inside the pipe and inflated. RootGlo ® luminescent positioning strip illuminates the joint position ensuring that the system is positioned in the pipe correctly. The QuickPurge is then inflated and connected to a Weld Purge Monitor ® to measure the exact oxygen level throughout the welding cycle.” “A 1,400mm (55") system can be purged down to 100ppm ready for welding in

Line Vac models are also available in type 316 stainless steel for even more demanding high temperature, corrosive and hygienic environments. EXAIR www.exair.com HFT develops solution for purging large stainless steel pipes

just 55 minutes. The dramatic savings in time and argon paid for the system in just one weld.” QuickPurge has an additional gas input line, which means extra purge gas can be introduced for applications such as this, thereby achieving a much faster purge, down to the lowest oxygen levels, which is perfect for larger diameter pipes where quality welds are required. Huntingdon Fusion Techniques, HFT ® ’s design of the QuickPurge System means that zero colour welds will be achieved and there will be no loss of corrosion resistance caused by oxidation. Using IntaCal ® combined with the integrated PurgeGate ® device makes it possible to safely inflate the dams with inert gas, for purging the space between the dams where the weld joint is located. With PurgeGate, burst dams are prevented in the event of undue

pressure increase or accidental flow increase of the purging gas. Materials used in the manufacture of QuickPurge are resistant to the higher weld temperatures present and they do not outgas, preventing weld contamination. For pre-heated chrome steel and high strength stainless steel pipe joints, HFT ® design and manufactures the HotPurge ® range for a higher and longer temperature exposure.
