Interpipe meets construction companies in Qatar Steel pipe and railway wheel producer Interpipe has held a business meeting with potential clients in the framework of exhibition ‘Project Qatar 2011’. Representatives of the largest construction companies of Qatar took part in the business meeting at which top-management of Interpipe presented the company, its product portfolio, services and technologies. Commercial director Duncan Pell commented after his presentation to potential clients, “Qatar is a fast developing country with increasing opportunities in the construction sector. As a result of Qatar winning the 2022 World Cup bid, we can expect this fast-growing economy to make huge investments in infrastructure projects. Interpipe has participated in similar projects in Ukraine in preparation for Euro 2012. It is a very capable partner to supply projects in Qatar being well located to offer quick and reliable delivery through the Black Sea ports. I hope that Interpipe and Qatar will become long-term partners and will work together on the exciting projects now being planned.”
Technip’s operating centre in Oslo, Norway will execute the contract. Flowline welding will take place in the group’s spoolbase in Orkanger, Norway, while installation will be performed by the Apache II, a pipelay vessel from the Technip fleet, in mid-2012. The contract is subject to approval of the plan for development and operation of Gygrid by the Norwegian authorities.
Technip, France, has been awarded by Statoil a contract worth approximately €90mn, for the Gygrid field development located in the Norwegian Sea at a water depth of 265-330m. The contract covers engineering, procurement, welding and installation of flowlines, including a 19.5km pipe- in-pipe production flowline, a plastic- lined water injection flowline and a gas lift flowline of the same length, subsea equipment installation, installation and tie-ins of new risers and umbilicals.

trade show The largest Asian trade show for the water and wastewater industry, ASIAWATER 2012, will be held from 27 to 29 March 2012 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event is organised by AMB Exhibitions Sdn Bhd in cooperation with Merebo Messe Marketing, which is in charge of the Europe, America and Australia Pavilion. Held concurrently with ASIAWATER Expo & Forum is an international conference hosted by the Malaysian Water Association. The show will take place in 10,000m 2 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The previous ASIAWATER event in 2010 was attended by 558 exhibitors from 32 countries, and more than 10,300 trade visitors.

TMK ships 13-Chrome steel pipes with premium connections
sites in the United States, Russia, Romania and Kazakhstan. Around half of the company’s steel pipe production capacity is dedicated to the production of high margin oil country tubular goods. In 2010, TMK’s pipe sales totalled approximately 4mn tonnes, shipped to customers in more than 65 countries.
“The development of new types of products required by our customers is very important for TMK,” commented Alexander Shiryaev, TMK CEO. “A very limited number of global premium pipe producers are able to make OCTG from 13-Chrome steel. By starting this production at its facilities, TMK has now become part of this elite club and has got access to a very important segment of the global premium pipe market.” TMK operates 23 production
TMK, a leading oil and gas steel pipe producer, has completed a shipment of tubing with TMK FMT premium connections to a Rosneft subsidiary operating the Chkalovskoye field. The pipes were made from 13-Chrome steel, which is highly resistant to harsh environments and is effective against sweet corrosion. TMK says that it is the first Russian company to manufacture OCTG pipes from this type of steel.
