McElroy launches the In-Ditch 1600 Pipe fusion specialist McElroy has launched a solution for fusing large- diameter pipes in challenging, close- quarter working environments and tight spaces.
The new In-Ditch 1600 has been launched in direct response to a customer who needed a machine capable of butt fusing large-diameter tie-in connections in a high-density neighbourhood with many turning roadways. “The beauty of this is the collaboration and creativity to come up with a solution,” said Brett Stone, sales channel manager at McElroy. “The In-Ditch 1600 now gives all contractors the option of butt fusing fittings, flanges and tie ins for a whole lot less than traditional electrofusion fittings in that diameter.” The In-Ditch 1600 is designed with a compact, two-jaw carriage and a top- loading heater and facer for added flexibility. It is capable of fusing onto Uniflex has released its latest HM crimpers which are ‘setting new standards for quality and efficiency.’ The HM 480 production press has an innovative design, which was created especially for special sizes of the industry, as well as pressing force up to 4,500 kN. Uniflex said: “As well as user friendliness and a long service life, the HM 480 combines high productivity and quality with outstanding ergonomics and a long service life. It offers an opening stroke of more than 150mm and an opening diameter of 380mm (without dies) so can therefore be used to crimp industrial hoses up to 8" with ANSI flanges and pipe fittings up to 12" without having to remove the dies.” The HM 480 is controlled through the Control C.2, a bespoke control unit of Uniflex, and apart from hydraulic hoses, the machine can be used to join reinforcing steel, steel cables, ropes and Uniflex introduces HM crimpers
force per jaw as the MegaMc ® 1600, the largest in McElroy’s rolling machine line, as well as the same 3,000 psi maximum pressure. The In-Ditch 1600 is also compatible with the DataLogger ® which records each step of the fusion process for added jobsite accountability. McElroy www.mcelroy.com
as little as 15" of exposed pipe with minimal excavation required. It also features multiple lifting points, a carriage spreader bar, skidded carriage and a roll cage which helps to protect the carriage and hydraulics as they are lowered into the ditch. The carriage of the In-Ditch 1600 has the same 30,000 pounds of clamping
insulators with forces up to 4,500 kN. Uniflex hydraulic crimpers are equipped with innovative slide bearing technology and, in contrast to lubricated crimpers, they work with virtually no friction loss, so that maintenance is reduced to a minimum. Uniflex www.uniflex.de
