Couplings selected for use on Royal Navy aircraft carriers

nickel and GRE plain end pipes on the QEC project. Joining plain end pipes with Teekay couplings avoids the need for welding, flanging, threading or grooving the pipe. The use of these couplings instead of traditional steel flange sets will reduce the space, weight, time and cost of the installed pipework system. Teekay Axilock-FP pipe couplings comply with Ministry of Defence shock and fire protection requirements for use on naval vessels, and are fully compliant with current IACS regulations.

UK specialist pipe coupling manu- facturer Teekay Couplings Ltd is to supply its patented fire-protected pipe couplings to the Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers, the largest vessels to enter service with the Royal Navy. The Queen Elizabeth Class vessels are 65,000 tonne aircraft carriers, 280m in length with accommodation for up to 1,600 people. The vessels are being built in multiple stages at major shipyards around the UK.

Universal media safety valve Dresser Consolidated has launched the new 1900 universal media pressure relief valve, to meet demand for a pressure-reducing valve certified for both liquid and gas, while requiring no adjustments. Users can operate the 1900 universal media valve on either liquid or gas at the same set pressure without making any adjustments, making it highly flexible.

Because of its efficient blowdown the 1900 universal media valve returns processes back to normal operating pressure very quickly while minimising the amount of process media released from the system. The valve builds on the proven Dresser Consolidated 1900 safety relief valve to more easily accommodate process changes. The 1900 universal media pressure relief valve offers improved performance and simplifies maintenance needs for the end user. Other benefits of the valve include reduced noise and decreased customer inventory. Dresser Consolidated – USA inquiries.consolidated@dresser.com www.dresserconsolidated.com
