A 25-year history of cable compounds Since its foundation in 1996, Mixer SpA has manufactured rubber compounds exclusively for the cable industry. Its products are known under the brand name Ekopren®, and have applications in different types of cable, such as low and medium voltage, automotive, offshore, photovoltaic and mining.

The product portfolio includes CV line and eBeam crosslinkable insulation and sheathing grades, as well as thermoplastic beddings, which have a broad use in cables compliant to the CPR (Construction Products Regulation). Mixer exports its Ekopren compounds to more than 35 countries around the world. In 2021, Mixer will celebrate the 25 th year since its foundation. Over the years, the company has consolidated its business, investing in innovation and development with the aim of offering customers cost-effective, efficient and technically advanced solutions. All of the Ekopren compounds are based on proprietary technology, from formulation to production, making the Mixer products unique. Along with the development of recipes, Mixer has invested in its compounding facility, designing and assembling tailored machinery. The equipment is controlled by MES software (manufacturing execution system), which allows real-time control and optimisation of the production process. To establish successful cooperation with clients, Mixer has also invested in a technical customer support team to maximise the synergy between Ekopren compounds and customers’

equipment. This has resulted in constant collaboration with on-site activities, know-how sharing and fine tuning of the compounds to allow clients to produce cables at higher speed, while reducing scrap and meeting high specifications. Mixer’s company philosophy is that “details matter”, from the traceability of materials to environmental and safety aspects, and from innovation to recycling.
