Successful wire China 2020 reflects industry recovery
The latest staging of wire China was held in Shanghai within strict hygiene protocols, and closed successfully. At the influential international trade fair for the wire and cable industry, 725 exhibitors showcased their products and technologies on 581,200ft 2 of exhibit space. A total of 36,552 trade visitors participated in wire China and the concurrently held Tube China trade fair. wire China also welcomed 49 buyer groups. Due to the COVID-19 related travel restrictions, foreign participation decreased this year, but in addition to 640 Chinese companies, wire China 2020 featured two overseas pavilions – from Germany and France – where the companies’ branch offices or agents in China presented the latest innovations. With these results, wire China confirmed its status as a “barometer” for the wire and cable industry in Asia, and
provided the industry with an important communication platform, especially in these difficult times. Marius Berlemann, general manager of event organiser Messe Düsseldorf (Shanghai) Co, Ltd, stated, “I would like to thank our partners, exhibitors and all participants for their support of wire China. It is the joint efforts of all parties that make the exhibition run successfully ... I believe that wire China will keep growing and look forward to meeting more participants in 2022.” Slavko Panzalovic, area sales manager at Maschinenfabrik Niehoff, commented, “During the exhibition, we met a lot of valuable customers. There were more visitors than I expected and our important buyers were there. This is a perfect platform to get close to customers, to present machines and technologies and to acquire new clients.” The president of Sikora (Fuzhou) Electronic Technology Co, Wanbin Chen, said, “This is the ninth time that Sikora
has participated in wire China. During the four-day exhibition we talked to many high-quality buyers and potential partners.” Mao Xingwang, board director and GM of Rosendahl Nextrom Oy Shanghai Representative Office, also shared positive feedback: “Since 2004, we continue to participate in every wire China. The customers we meet here account for almost 90 per cent of the total. Our optical fibre and cable business department has established contacts with many potential customers during the show.” The exhibits were complemented by seminars and conferences in cooperation with industry associations from China and abroad. The next edition of wire China is scheduled for September 2022, at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.
