Pentre Group, headquartered in Leigh, near Manchester, UK, has been working with the wire and cable industry for over 30 years, continuously developing products to move with the changing requirements of both customers and the end users. Based just north of London, UK, Knight Precision Wire (KPW) has been supporting industry since the 1960s, and has developed a worldwide customer base of quality-conscious manufacturers, many of which are household names. KPW specialises in the processing, stockholding and supply of quality metals to demanding industries within the UK and overseas, including aerospace, automotive, electrical, medical and petrochemical. Its ethos is to offer the highest quality materials and service in the industry. To support this it operates to a range of quality accreditations, including BS EN ISO 9001, BS EN ISO AS9100 and BS EN ISO AS9120. Its products are used in a broad spectrum of applications where quality conformance, reliability and speciality products are of paramount importance. These applications are not limited to national and multinational corporations, such as Rolls Royce and British Aerospace, as the extensive stockholding enables the company to offer fast, custom solutions for R&D trials or product development with a minimum lead time. Additionally, Knight Precision Wire’s expert engineers and technicians have many years of technical and materials experience and are able to offer effective solutions to complex wire problems. In order to meet a customer’s specific requirements, KPW has developed an extensive range of production equipment, which includes wire drawing and annealing; wire rolling into flat wire, tape or ribbon; shearing of coil into strip; wire straightening and cut-to-length; wire spooling and coiling; wire polishing and cleaning; wire rope stranding and bunching for cables; and braiding. Over recent years it has expanded its expertise and product range with the acquisition of several successful manufacturers of niche products. These companies have been fully integrated into the KPW business and operate as divisions under the brands of Omega Resistance Wire and Rowan Cable Products. KPW/Omega Resistance Wire is a manufacturer of electrical resistance wire and tapes from nickel alloys and copper alloys. These products are typically used in heat treatment, control resistors, thermocouples, electrical heating elements and glass sealing applications. Material is supplied in round wire, tape, strip and stranded wire rope. The Rowan Cable Products brand specialises in the manufacture of bare and insulated conductors in copper, tinned copper and aluminium alloys specifically for the electrical, utilities, rail and engineering industries. In addition to standard conductor materials, KPW/Rowan Cable Products can provide access to many alternative or special materials and coverings to complement individual customer requirements. Products can also be over braided with a variety of materials including metal, Kevlar, and cotton in various colours. A third addition to the group is KC Smith Ortho, a UK supplier of highly specialised products for the orthodontic and medical industry. These products are produced from the best quality stainless steel wire, tape, stainless tube and wire mesh. Its customers include dental laboratories, NHS hospitals and universities.
