Latest arc/spark OES analyser for material control analysis

Spectromaxx LMX10

configurable by the operator, providing savings in consumables costs. The LMX10 provides routine, trouble-free analysis of ten matrices, 65 methods and 59 elements via convenient controls for operation. Enhanced software features include quick-check programs, virtual type standards and spectrum scans. Spectro’s easy-to-use Spark Analyzer Pro software provides application profiles tailored to pre-set user requirements, as well as automatic program selection of sub-methods for given materials; spectra storage for later recalculations; multiple data export formats; and software-only upgrades for new lines, methods or matrices. The LMX10 is available in two models. The basic Spectromaxx features a single air optic, with CMOS sensors from the flag- ship Spectrolab S. It extends the relevant and applicable elemental wavelength range from 233 to 670nm. A new option analyses relevant wavelengths to 766nm, covering potassium. The Spectromaxx Advanced uses the same high-resolution CMOS technology, with the air optic covering the same wavelengths as the basic model – from 233 to 670nm. An added UV optic handles a lower spectral range from 120 to 235nm. This includes a new capability to analyse oxygen in copper. Another new option analyses relevant wavelengths to 766nm, covering potassium. Spectro Analytical Instruments GmbH www.spectro.com

Spectro Analytical Instruments has introduced the Spectromaxx LMX10 arc/spark OES analyser for fast, accurate elemental analysis in metal producing and fabricating plants and iron and non ferrous foundries. The LMX10 is the latest version of the Spectromaxx arc/spark OES (optical emission spectrometry) analyser. The manufacturer states that it delivers repeatability, reproducibility and relia- bility in material control analyses from incoming materials to in-process testing to final quality inspections, adding certainty to critical supply chains. Spectromaxx users quickly obtain infor- mation on changing process conditions with lower consumables. Advanced diag- nostics and easy maintenance prevent downtime. In addition, the analyser features Spectro’s proprietary iCAL 2.0 calibration logic, which requires only five minutes and a single sample per day, and automatically compensates for most changes in environmental temperature or pressure. Conventional analysers may need 30 or more minutes for standardisation, plus reruns whenever site conditions change. The LMX10 – the tenth generation Spectromaxx – introduces advancements that include new analytical performance: completely new factory calibrations; extended calibration ranges and element selections; optimised source excitation parameters; and improved limits of detection (LODs). A new feature allows for a total shutdown of argon flow during standby, for periods
