Touchscreen panel for weld monitoring With traceability and accountability becoming increasingly important, welders can benefit from integrated, accessible and inclusive monitoring systems.

With full on-screen SPC capability, quality measurement is shown in real time, making quality control tasks more actionable and focused. An integrated time and date system makes weld reporting and traceability easier to track. The panel can schedule logistics, with the ability to store up to 99 schedules in the system, complete with password protection and multiple language capabilities, allowing teams around the world to perform smooth welding operations simultaneously.

Amada Weld Tech’s latest advancement in laser weld monitoring technology – the TP-AWS3-A touchscreen panel – offers features to streamline the monitoring, analysis and storage of welding operations. Available in standard and large sizes, the panel is functional and accessible, and can be fully integrated with existing OP-AWS3-A systems. When used in tandem with a welding system, such as AWTE’s AWS3 active welding system, the touchscreen panel provides real-time dynamic measurement, cataloguing and analysis of all welding variables, offering comprehensive data to improve existing workflows, support product development, and ensure ISO, GMP and TQM compliance.

New generation of fusion splicing fibre preparation equipment AFL, a manufacturer of fibre optic cable, fusion splicers and accessories, debuted its new range of fibre preparation equipment at SPIE BiOS and Photonics West in San Francisco, USA, earlier this year. Designed for capability and performance, the new recoaters and cleavers will enhance fibre preparation and protection for fusion splicing as well as service the complex needs of those utilising speciality optical fibres. The high-performance tools are claimed to help improve reliability and reproducibility, resulting in a higher degree of confidence for those who use them. AFL’s LZM-125A+ LazerMaster splicing system is a glass processor and fibre ablation machine that uses a CO 2 laser heat source to perform splicing, tapering, lensing ablation and other glass shaping operations with glass diameters from 80µm to 2mm. The high-resolution optical analysis system works in conjunction with on-board firmware for fully automatic glass shaping processes. The splicing system also includes a self-contained workstation. At SPIE BiOS and Photonics West, AFL also demonstrated the Fujikura 90R ribbon splicer with replaceable V-grooves, and the Fujikura 90S+ core alignment splicer with active fusion control (AFC) technology. The Fujikura 90R is a splicing solution to manage increased traffic, higher fibre counts and greater data demand. With automated splice start, tube heater, wind protector, cleave tracking and blade rotations for up to two cleavers at a time, the splicer frees up operator time for other fibre preparation steps. The user-replaceable V-grooves allow technicians to keep the splicer in the field for longer. When V-grooves can no longer be cleaned after extended use, or are accidentally damaged, technicians can resume splicing in minutes by installing the spare set included with the 90R. AFL also featured the Fujikura FSM-100P/P+ fibre fusion splicer, which includes a new observation method for fibre rotational alignment referred to as the IPA2.
