Thomas Holzer joins Troester management board

Kurre Systems – formed from Kurre Spezialmaschinenbau and Siebe Engineering – produces machines and lines for the wire and cable industry, and for other extrusion products. The company’s new rewinding line in portal design features an automated process, fast job changeover and gentle rewinding. The line allows fully automatic spool changing on the side of the payoff. This is achieved by the complete driving of the payoff. With precise sensor technology, the centre bores of the spools are detected, and the spools are picked up and brought to the winding position. Mechanical and plant engineering firm Troester GmbH & Co KG has announced that Thomas Holzer Dipl-Ing MBA joined the company’s management board on 1 March. In addition to the managing partner and CEO Dr Peter Schmidt and COO Bernd Pielsticker Dipl-Ing, Mr Holzer will in future be responsible for engineering and sales. Having three people sharing the management responsibility is intended to strengthen sustainability and the knowledge base in the company, while creating “new energy for organic growth and innovation”. Mr Holzer studied process engineering in Munich then went on to study business

The next job can be prepared while the current job is being processed, so the payoff loading process is performed in parallel, increasing the productivity of the system. In addition, the design allows the spools to be processed directly with transport racks, and further relocation of the spools is not necessary. The laying table, located between the payoff and take-up, is equipped with pneumatic product guide rollers, with an MW8 calibrated length measurement system and a hydraulic cutter. Due to the automatic repositioning of the laying table in height and angle, the management in Reutlingen and Michigan in the USA. Following this, he started his career in the paper division of the technology company Voith, and held management positions at the company in Germany, Indonesia, Austria and China, where he was responsible for global projects as well as the service and spare parts business. Mr Holzer has comprehensive knowledge in the sale, engineering and project management of special machines, and brings with him a wealth of management and leadership experience. He sees himself as a team player: “I am looking forward to my role at Troester. As part of a strong team, I would like to

generate fresh impetus for the further development of Troester’s business areas. I bring with me my international experience to successfully position the company globally in the future. We are living in a time of great challenges that we are tackling with all our strength and for which we are finding sophisticated solutions.” Troester GmbH & Co KG www.troester.de

“Little brother” in great shape Rolling ring drives are friction drives that convert the constant rotary movement of a plain shaft into a traversing movement. This is the key feature of the Uhing® rolling ring principle. The advantages have already proven themselves under the extreme conditions of the Antarctic, but Uhing rolling ring drives are also used in less demanding environments – such as when “big brothers” fail. Customers always have a choice among mechanical, electromagnetic or

of the Uhing rolling ring drives was introduced for winding and traversing applications 20 years ago. Kinemax KI-6 offers a standard shaft diameter of 15mm and is particularly suited to short strokes and low forces. The Kinemax KI-6 is available as gear or drive, and with reversal mechanism and mounting plate as versatile as the larger models. It has a dead weight of 280g, and very little space is required. The maximum pitch of 6mm is sufficient for many standard applications, and is especially suited for winding thin wires. Joachim Uhing GmbH & Co KG www.uhing.com

Uhing’s largest drive for 80mm shafts features a maximum thrust force of 3,600N, but the display of brute force is not the solution for every problem. The “little brother”
