Efficient production of strip and wire metal parts

With the Bihler RM-NC stamping and forming machine, users can produce traditional stamped and formed parts from strip and wire material with higher productivity. The high-speed RM-NC servo machine produces up to 300 precision parts per minute. With fast set-up and retooling, the RM-NC is suited to small and medium batch sizes. It is backed up by servo technology in conjunction with the intuitive control technology of the Bihler VariControl system. With the fully automated positioning unit, slide units can be aligned in radial and linear direction at the push of a button. After tool assembly, the production parameters programmed in the control system are selected, and production starts. This allows users to react quickly to customer requirements. Bihler claims that the Leantool system reduces costs for new tools, with savings of up to 70 per cent compared to forming

Padanaplast specialises in crosslinkable polyolefin halogen-free flame-retardant (XLPO-HFFR) compounds for wires and cables, and offers a range of products developed to meet the stringent needs of electric mobility in the automotive industry. “The surging development of complex hybrid, all-electric and fuel cell vehicles demands advanced automotive wires and cables to meet a range of voltages and performance criteria,” said Antonello Casale, R&I and technical service chief manager at Padanaplast. “We are complementing our successful range of HFFR insulation and sheathing for wire and cabling for e-mobility with the introduction of experimental T4 150°C grade of Cogegum® GFR.” The new Cogegum GFR 1709-27 T4 grade is specifically developed for high voltage (HV) ultra-flexible battery cables, offering thermal and mechanical performance and resistance to automotive fluids for next- generation electric vehicle powertrains. Padanaplast Cogegum GFR 1401-76 and Cogegum® GFR 1401-190 products tools on mechanical equipment. Many tool parts are now implemented as standardised parts. The number of tool parts requiring a redesign is reduced to a minimum with the Leantool concept. The high degree of standardisation and the universal usability allow for short implementation times from enquiry to tool creation. This includes all areas from planning to design with the Bihler bNX technology software to manufacturing of the tool components. New products can rapidly be brought to market, even in small batch sizes. In addition, the RM-NC is fully compatible with mechanical machines of the RM series. Existing tools from these machine types can be adapted and optimised for the servo-controlled machine. This means that the output increases by more than 300 per cent in some cases; batch sizes are processed in half the time and changeover times are shortened.

Advanced HFFR compounds for electric vehicle wires and cables

comply with RoHS requirements and are intended for T3 (125°C) primary insulation optimised for technical performance. grades, which are RoHS and EN 50620 standard compliant, are used as insulatingmaterials for electric vehicle charging cables to ensure flexibility and reliability. Padanaplast products are manufactured to meet the relevant international standards for automotive cable, including ISO (Europe) 6722 Class C; LV 112; SAE (USA) J 1128; and JASO (Japan) D 611. All grades are crosslinked using silane- grafting technology coupled with a non- halogenated flame-retardant system that contributes self-extinguishing properties without halogenidric acid evolution, toxic and corrosive gases or dark smoke emissions. In addition, automotive wires and cables manufactured using Padanaplast’s materials display non-corrosive properties that facilitate end-of-life recycling.
