Industry 4.0 compliant optical fibre devices

Cersa-MCI has announced a new generation of fibre optic measuring devices that are Industry 4.0 compliant. The complete line of instruments is now available with multi-industry standard communications. In addition to keeping the RS232 serial link, Cersa offers the choice of several optional communication interfaces/field buses. These new communication interfaces offer users more network connections with PLCs and other compliant platforms. Implementing those communication standards in factories will help to standardise connections between measuring devices and machines, allowing the retrieval and centralising of measurements from online devices in near real-time. Users will also be more able to handle reactivity and traceability of the process. The devices will be ready for future applications such as forecasting models or predictive maintenance. More connectivity and intelligence of machines in factory processes will reduce response times. Device features, installation and performances will remain the same. Older generation devices can also benefit from this change, as upgrades can be made to take advantage of the advanced communications capabilities. Cersa-MCI manufactures measuring devices for fine wire, cable and optical fibre industries. It provides advanced technologies and solutions to help customers enhance production quality. The product range covers on-line and off-line applications for non-contact measurement. Anomet Composite Clad Metal Wire combines up to three metals or alloys to achieve specific properties such as corrosion resistance, biocompatibility, or operation at temperatures from cryogenic to 1,200°C. Featuring two per cent or more cladding thickness to produce wire that meets design requirements and cost criteria, the clad wire is suitable for use in sensors, switches, connectors, implantable medical devices, and other applications in harsh environments. Metallurgically bonded together to provide reliability, flexibility and optimum formability without breaking, flaking or blistering, Anomet Composite Clad Metal Wire is available in sizes from 0.051 to 3.175mm OD. Incorporating a gold, silver, palladium or platinum exterior layer, the core and second layer can include copper, stainless steel, Kovar ® , niobium, Nitinol ® , nickel-iron, molybdenum, tantalum and titanium. The wire is priced according to materials and configuration, but the manufacturer states that it is approximately one-tenth the cost of solid products. Anomet Products www.anometproducts.com
