as well as the stripe width, according to previously set references. It is also possible to optimise the product recipe. Due its sensitivity, the masterbatch demand can be reduced. Rosendahl subjected the system to intensive tests on its RA-A automotive wire production line. The results reveal that recipes with 2.5 per cent

When producing ultra-thin cable at high production speeds, monitoring the insulation colour by sight alone is not practical. With this in mind, Rosendahl has developed a highly sensitive colour recognition system, called DVS SK-400-C, to detect even the slightest deviations. The colour recognition sensor system measures the main and stripe colours,

masterbatch can be decreased to 1.5 per cent while still maintaining the same colour shade. The system’s main component is a PC-based evaluation unit with 360° camera surveillance. This unit consists of four cameras, covered by a protective housing. This enables continuous colour quality monitoring, which is also displayed on the reel protocol. Colour reliability is therefore immediately assured, eliminating colour complaints and faulty production. Waste and scrap are reduced at start-up, during production and even during colour changes. The system can be integrated into a new or existing production line, and can also be used as a stand-alone unit.
