4 Conclusions We have developed a 576F high-density optical fibre cable that can be laid using the air-blown method. Using a 12F rollable ribbon made of optical fibres of 200µm diameter, both smaller diameter/ higher density of the cable and improvement in workability at the time of fusion splicing were achieved. The 12F rollable ribbon made using optical fibres of 200µm diameter can be spliced in the same manner as conventional ribbons. Since the developed cable showed good results in all the cable characteristics evaluation tests and the blowing test, it is confirmed to be good for practical use.
