Non-contact cable measuring Sikora manufactures and supplies meas- uring, control, inspection and sorting technologies, with a product portfolio that comprises a wide range of systems for quality control and process optimisation.

The company’s Centerview 8000 is an in- line non-contact system for eccentricity, diameter and ovality measurement as well as for the calculation of the wall thickness of cables. All types of round, single conductors and cables with a solid or stranded conductor can be measured, such as telephone cables, LAN cables, automotive cables and building cables. The device is installed either after the cooling trough in the extrusion line, to get quality information for the final product, or directly after the extruder. In this position, the user quickly receives information about the product. This allows the production line to be controlled via extruder output or line speed to achieve the specified minimum values. The measuring values are visualised on either the Ecocontrol processor system or on the Centerview 8000’s integrated display. The scatter plot shows the distribution of short-term variations of the eccentricity. It consists of 5,000 points, each representing a single value of the eccentricity. The overall distribution of the scatter plot highlights the standard deviation of the eccentricity, and with this information the cross head can be
