New launch from Solvay ▲ ▲ Ixef® 1524 RD 001, a halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) from Solvay
SOLVAY, a global supplier of speciality polymers, has launched Ixef® 1524 RD 001, a halogen-free flame-retardant (HFFR) and 50 per cent glass fibre reinforced polyarylamide (PARA) grade colour matched to signal orange, for high-performance electrical vehicle (EV) recharge connectors. “Ixef® 1524 RD 001 is a customised material supplied in dedicated signal orange that is readily available for manufacturers of EV connectors,” said Thomas Kohnert, global product manager, Ixef®/Kalix®/Omnix® high-performance polyamides for Solvay’s speciality polymers global business unit. “It combines a well-balanced level of high stiffness and impact strength with both excellent creep and temperature resistance in a non-halogenated flame-retardant formulation.” Moulders will appreciate the high flowability of Ixef 1524 RD 001, which enables complex designs and thinner walls – as thin as 0.5mm even with glass loadings of 50 per cent – therefore contributing to material savings and lower weight components with high injection speeds and short cycle times. Ixef PARA is also known for delivering a resin-rich and high-gloss surface finish. Pre-compounded Ixef 1524 RD 001 is globally available in consistent RAL 2010 colour tonal stability, which saves costly time and labour normally required for colour matching. Eisele has developed a ball bearing rotary connector. This new addition to series 14 of the Eisele Basicline can rotate freely around its own axis. The new rotary connector offers a solution for conveying compressed air from a rigid component to a rotating component. The new rotary connector, which is designed for an operating pressure range of -0.9 to 16 bar, is suitable for all applications that are compatible with nickel-plated brass. The seals are made of NBR and FKM. The rotary connector is available in straight and angled versions for tube diameters of 8, 10 and 12mm. The screw-in end is equipped with G1/4 threads. This new push-in connector from series 14 of the Basicline is the first fully rotating connector in Eisele’s product range. The rotary movement is enabled by a hybrid
stainless steel ball bearing with ceramic balls, which is approved for rotational speeds of up to 800 rpm. Stainless steel versions that are suitable for other operating media will follow.
