ranges up to 260 º C. It can be run on a wider range of voltages: 120, 208, 240, 277 and 480V. An example of automatic electric water pipe heating cable is a cable that prevents metal and plastic pipes from freezing. These units are activated and deactivated by an integral energy-saving thermostat. They are suitable for commercial and residential metal or plastic water supply pipes that are subject to freezing temperatures. Spirka Schnell echter has a broad range of options in spiralling machines for such applications. The vertical version, called DW, is available with 6, 8, 12, 16, 18 or 24 bobbin carriers. These machines have a rotation speed of up to 450rpm, depending on the size of the machine. The horizontal version is called Helix 6036 and is equipped with two rotating heads. Each head will contain 18 bobbin carriers. The bobbins of both machine designs can be wound with single or multiple ends of wire or yarn. In both cases, the core is wrapped with those wires/yarns at a constant pitch. All parameters are freely programmable and recallable. Payo and take-up installations are optional. The modular construction of the machine means that custom speci cations, such as taping applications, are easy to integrate. Spirka Schnell echter GmbH – Germany Website : www.spirka-schnell echter.com Staku is a developer and producer of wire pre-treatment and nishing systems. During 2016 and 2017 Staku registered two additional patents for processes and devices, each of which is able to deliver decisive advantages to end users in the area of process cost reduction with simultaneous quality increase. The new E-Molyphos coating process was successfully implemented for titanium and stainless steel grades. In a trial carried out with various wire processors from Germany and abroad, the inline coating was rst applied by the coil and pulled directly afterwards. The new lubrication system for stainless steel and titanium has the following application areas: • Replacement of complex dip phosphating (oxalating) by direct inline coating Staku-Alangenbau GmbH Stand: 12A63

The manufacture of heating cables is an increasingly common application for spiralling machines. Heating cables are versatile cables for numerous applications including frost protection, and ice and snow melting. Self-regulating heating cables increase power as temperatures fall, and decrease as temperatures rise. For metallic or non-metallic piping and tanks, self-regulating heating cables allow for ease of design and installation, with applications ranging from freeze protection to temperature maintenance and foundation heating. Heating cable looks more like standard two-conductor house wiring cable, and is not as exible as heating tape; most varieties are about as exible as a hose. The sti ness is related to one of the main di erences from heat tapes: heating cables are enclosed in a core that protects the heating element, and so can be used in a broader range of environments. Heating cable can also be cut to length, and terminated with electrical connections. There are di erent types of heating cable available. Self-regulating heating cable is made so that it will not rise above a certain temperature. It is on the low end of the temperature range, suitable for applications up to, for example, 120°C. Constant-wattage heating cable, on the other hand, does not control its own temperature, so it requires a controller. It is available for higher temperatures, with

The aim of the new E-Molyphos coating is to present an integrated process chain from wire calibration line to hot or cold forming. Decisive for the success of this technology is the selection of a suitable pre-treatment of the wire surface to produce an optimal bonding force between substrate surface and coating. When comparing the graphs for the coe cients of friction, it is notable that the E-Molyphos coe cient of friction does not increase, in contrast to forming oils, but remains at a constant low value. As a further development, a plant concept for the production of two products could be implemented on a single production plant in a process called DUC (dual use concept). This innovation mainly relates to the production of copper-plated and uncoupled welding wires as part of in-line production. By selectively switching the electrolytic copper plating (Ecopp) on or o , high-purity wire can be produced with a blank or copper-plated surface. This saves the investment in a second wire drawing line, while boosting competitiveness. The process is capable of producing products at process speeds of up to 30m per second.
