Both plants are equipped with two strand rolling mills for the production of smooth wire rod (in diameters from 5.5 to 21.5mm) and ribbed wire rod (in diameters from 6 to 16mm). Wire rod products for drawing and construction include low carbon, medium and high carbon content wire rods. Di erent qualities of low carbon wire rod for drawing are produced, characterised by a structure that allows high reductions to a diameter of less than 1mm, always ensuring constant quality and the optimal surface for galvanic treatment or coating of the wire. Wire rod for concrete steel reinforcements is designed for nal products – cold rolled wire, electro-welded meshes and lattice girders – which meet Italian and international product speci cations. Wire rod for welding is characterised by a low content of impurities, ensuring e ciency during drawing and nished products with high performance in welding operations. High carbon wire rod, obtained by the Stelmor cooling process, is used for the production of pre-stressed concrete strands and for the production of tyre reinforcing or for mechanical springs. Medium carbon wire rod, also obtained by the Stelmor cooling process, is available for the production of nails and staples, and other applications in the mechanical sector. Plasmait is a supplier of heat and surface treatment machinery based on plasma technology for continuous and batch applications in ferrous and non-ferrous metal wire, tube, strip and rope production. Plasmait will be presenting the following machinery: • PlasmaAnnealer HPA40: a high-output annealer for stainless steel, nickel and copper alloys. The machine is typically used for wire/tube sizes of 1 to 10mm outside diameter. The 40kW annealer has an output of up to 170kg per hour on austenitic stainless steels, 220kg per hour on martensitic stainless steel and 300kg per hour on copper materials. Higher output annealers are available on request. • PlasmaAnnealer HPA10: typically used for annealing of ne stainless steel wires (0.05 to 1mm) at speeds of up to 25m per second or in-line with rolling or drawing. Plasmait will present an integrated drawing/annealing solution for ne stainless steel wires, together with Schmidt Maschinenbau GmbH. • PV ribbon line: for high speed rolling, annealing and chemical-free and ux-free tinning of super-soft PV ribbon at speeds of up to 210m per minute. • Tinning line for chemical-free and ux-free tin coating of copper or aluminium wire, tube or narrow strip. • PlasmaAct: used for lubricant adhesion on stainless steel and titanium alloy rods. • PlasmaPreplate: a heat and surface treatment machine for heating, cleaning, deoxidation and surface activation for coating, hot dip and electroplating applications. • PlasmaCleaner: a plasma surface treatment machine designed for pre-heating, surface cleaning, degreasing or deoxidation on ferrous and non-ferrous wires, tubes or strip.
