wire 2018 show

16 th - 20 th April

Global product manager Wayne Thornhill said: “As a recognised specialist in the eld, Metalube has a strong focus on product development and we are seeing fantastic results from the current trials. Noticeably, minimum wire breaks, reduced capstan wear and die life markedly extended. This gives our customers increased e ciency and cost reductions. We are more than delighted with the outcomes.” Metalube specialises in wire and tube drawing lubricants as well as protective greases for overhead conductors. Its headquarters are in Manchester, UK, where the site incorporates o ces with warehousing, laboratories and manufacturing facilities.

A bimetal version of the Nagsim.2D FEA simulation program, that simulates forming of two deformable materials, is also available. Metal Forming Systems also o ers consulting and training: • The Fundamentals of Cold Forging – a three-day educational course. These classes are o ered at the MFSI o ce in Canton, Michigan, USA, or on the client’s site. The purpose of this course is to provide a basic understanding of the cold forging process and its design for manufacturing cold forged parts. It can also serve as a refresher for experienced employees, or as an orientation for new engineers, designers and operators. • Consulting Services – MFSI specialises in software development and engineering consulting. MFSI standard or customised software helps companies improve their e ciency. Lubricants specialist Metalube will launch the latest generation of copper wire drawing products – Lubricool™ – at wire 2018. The new portfolio is currently being trialled at several sites across Europe. The latest additions to the Lubricool™ range (Lubricool™ 33, 11, 319, 320 and 250B) are specially designed semi-synthetic and synthetic grades. These have been designed with the newest chemistries available to achieve increased performance in wire drawing applications, providing: • Longer sump life through lower interaction with copper • Higher lubrication using oxidatively stable synthetic esters and polymers • Increased detergency using specially selected non-ionic emulsi ers that o er more stability in high- conductivity conditions ▼ One of the two stands on display from Metalube this year Metal Forming Systems Inc – USA Website : www.nagform.com Metalube Stands: 11G21 and 06G20

Nagform sample parts

Nagform is a progression design software for cold, warm or hot forged parts. The program uses forming rules and design logic to create alternative ways of forming a part. The programs can perform a feature-based search to nd similar parts and their designs in the part database. Reusable templates can be created for part families such as hex bolts, rivets and spark plugs. All the results can be exported into various 2D/3D CAD programs including AutoCAD and SolidWorks. NagformLite is a lower-cost version of the Nagform program. It has the full modelling capability of Nagform with the ability to create progression designs manually. The program output includes part volume, surface area, forming strains, forming load, pressure calculations and 2D/3D CAD drawings. Templates of most IFI standard parts, SolidWorks/STEP interface and Tooling Component Library are also available. NagformSheet is a progression design software for deep drawn and ironed sheet metal parts. It is available as separate software or as an additional module in Nagform. The Nagform program with the NagformSheet add-on module allows comparative studies of parts that can be alternatively formed by cold forging as well as sheet metal forming processes. Nagsim.2D/Nagsim.3D software is for simulating cold, warm and hot forging processes. It can simulate plastic deformation of the part, as well as the elastic deformation of the tools. Forging sequences determined through Nagform, or users’ own designs, can be tested and validated before building the tooling using these FEA ( nite element analysis) simulation programs. These programs can simulate and predict metal ow, formation of defects such as laps and non- ll, and predict stresses in tools and parts. The bene ts of Nagsim software include: • Reduce die trials and costly mistakes • Improve tool life • Predict defects • Optimise preform shape • Reduce scrap • Determine the mechanical properties of a formed part • Determine the in uence of lubricants • Shorten print-to-part time
