Mathiasen Machinery (MMI) will be displaying photographs of a wide variety of the second-hand machinery that it buys and sells internationally. Machinery is purchased for inventory or brokered. MMI is interested in locating individual machines, complete lines or entire plants. Consignments, warehousing, rebuilding, appraisals and liquidation services are also o ered. MMI has buyers seeking all types of good quality used wire and cable machinery, having served the domestic and international ferrous and non-ferrous wire machinery markets since 1983. Customers are asked to bring their surplus machinery lists and photographs for evaluation. Mathiasen Machinery – USA Website : www.mathiasen-machinery.com Medek & Schörner will be presenting and demonstrating the following high performance cable marking technologies: • High quality gravure cable printers, at speeds up to 1,200m per minute • A water misting unit for the application of ne water dust for pre-cooling of the hot wire immediately after the extruder • Embossing metre markers and hot foil sequential metre markers for high accuracy length measurement • High performance ring markers for marking telephone wires, switchboard wires, automotive cables and LAN cables • A video system for monitoring the print quality of fast-running cable printing machines, for example allowing real-time inspection for bad quality and/or missing prints • Laser marking systems Medek will also display its optical bre coating systems, top speed optical bre processing systems that o er: • Optical bre colour coding up to 3,000m per minute • Ring marking of optical bres at speeds up to 1,280m per minute • Tight bu ering up to 1,300m per minute • Fibre ribbon production with excellent ribbon planarity and for speeds up to 1,000m per minute • Production of compact bre units Medek & Schörner Stand: Austrian Pavilion

Maillefer Stand: 10C22

At wire 2018, Maillefer will take the next step in the digitalisation of manufacturing, introducing the Smart Factory and virtual reality experience for real-time optimisation of production. Maillefer will highlight over 20 products at the show, while showcasing its expertise in conjunction with Davis-Standard. Maillefer Smart Factory, combining a physical factory model with additional instrumentation and online diagnostics, enabling the prediction of abnormal process behaviours before critical quality issues take place. Using the virtual reality application, a visitor can simulate di erent production parameters and set-ups applicable in Maillefer factories • Smart Dosing, a consultation product that equips line operators with the peroxide and antioxidant self-dosing information needed to implement Smart Dosing to CV lines • A new compression technology for bre optic cable producers that allows modelling of the product with neural networks, and thus improves bre length control • For rubber cable producers, a new non-linear modelling tool for tuning operating conditions in the extrusion process Maillefer will also launch a turnkey solution for factory joint processing and manufacturing; and a unique way to qualify submarine cable systems. The Round Premium value package is said to be an industry breakthrough for existing and new VCV lines. It can reduce geometrical errors by half, while increasing line productivity by between 20 and 40 per cent. Also on the stand, demonstrations of Maillefer’s Quick Conductor Splicing technology for faster and more reliable conductor splicing, compared to conventional technology. Products will include: •

Taking advantage of the modularity and exibility of its systems, Medek & Schörner has implemented other applications, including some outside the eld of optical bres: • Copper wire insulation with UV varnishes (enamelled wire) • Manufacture of dimension-sensitive precision micro exible at cables (FFC) using UV resins Medek & Schörner covers virtually the entire spectrum of machines for marking cables and coding optical bres, in particular for power, telecommunication and data cables. High performance cable marking technology fromMedek & Schörner Supported by its Dutch cooperation partner Inhol, Melos supplies cable manufacturers around the world, meeting their individual requirements. The portfolio includes a wide range of thermoplastic and cross-linkable compounds for cable insulation and sheathing. In addition, Melos is an expert in manufacturing FM bedding compounds. After a four-year cooperation, the acquisition of Inhol has been successfully executed. From 1 st January 2018, Inhol is o cially part of the Melos group. With its special insulation and sheathing compounds in the Mecoline TP and Mecoline RDX product portfolio, Melos and Inhol now serve markets with high requirements in terms of low-temperature exibility. These demands are particularly prevalent in regions with extreme climatic conditions, such as northern Russia. Potential areas of application for these cables include ships, wind turbines, conduits and oil rigs. Their exibility means they are suitable for use in more ▲ Medek & Schörner GmbH – Austria Website : www.medek.at Melos GmbH Stand: 12E03
