tailored to the exacting technical speci cations of individual wire drawing processes. In 2011 Blachford Corporation developed and introduced a technical advancement with its low-dust dry wire drawing lubricants. The rst generation of these low-dust lubricants were sodium-based formulations that were designed to be more cohesive and adherent to the wire than standard products. Low-dust lubricants are less likely to produce nuisance dust when exiting the die (feathering) or when cooled on the wire and bent around a capstan prior to the next die box, improving housekeeping both on the machine, and in the facility. Blachford’s low-dust lubricants have enabled many of its customers to realise very signi cant bene ts including lower observable dust creation, lower lubricant consumption, longer die life and higher drawing speeds. After the successful implementation of its low-dust sodium lubricants, Blachford began working to develop low-dust lubricants that were calcium based.

burster cable measurement o ers an extensive range of innovative systems for all requirements in the cable industry. Cable measurement with burster delivers precise comparative values to control raw material consumption, meet customer requirements and as reliable parameters for e ective production planning. burster systems are designed to cover the special requirements of aluminium. However, copper cables can also be measured precisely.

In 2016 it introduced its newest innovation – low-dust calcium lubricants. These new beaded low dust calcium lubricants are designed to reduce dust generation during handling and use through greater wire adherence and lubricant cohesion, compared to standard wire drawing lubricant powders. Initial testing indicates that these new low-dust calcium beaded products build a bene cial lubricant lm, retain that lm better than standard products, and give improved drawing performance over standard calcium lubricant powders. ▲ Blachford has supplied the global wire drawing industry with innovative wire drawing lubricant programmes

The rapid formation of an oxide lm and impurities between the wire strands of aluminium cables are the reason why standard clamping systems cannot generate enough force to overcome the barriers and meet the requirements. As a result, the measurement is less precise and non-reproducible. The challenge to measure aluminium cables up to 2,500mm 2 is solved with the new maintenance-free clamping technology 2383, designed to measure the resistance of aluminium and copper cables for precisely reproducible results. A short cable sample is enough. The new inline measurement equipment with a patented technology facilitates cable resistance measurements directly in the stranding machine without any need for ground insulation of the line. Test samples to be scrapped after the e ected measurements are not necessary. By applying high forces, burster’s new clamping technology overpowers the thick oxide lm, ensuring uniform power supply. Due to an exact dosing of the applied torque, reproducible reference values for resistance are achieved. control parameters for production planning are obtained, aimed at optimising material deployment and cost cutting. Furthermore, burster resistance measure- ment ensures documented proof that the aluminium or copper wire batch complies with customer requirements. Expedient and comparable
