Flat and shaped production equipment DEM provides equipment for the production of flat and shaped wire made from steel, copper or aluminium. The company’s technological packages for reinforcing wire rolling include:

• Automatic packaging solutions – fully automatic spool handling and transferring station with full/empty spool buffering system, and full product tracking and interface with MES. DEM also provides fully automatic spoolers for compact coils, equipped with coil strapping/weighing and labelling units For flat and profile rolling, DEM can supply: • Assisted threading system – to make the threading of rod easier and faster, minimising operator contact and maximising safety • In-line wire cleaning – further to rod pre-cleaning and wire post cleaning (polishing), the in-line cleaning system allows brilliant surface finishing of flat and profile wire • Perfect layer winding – for wire as small as 1.5 x 0.2mm at speeds of 1,200m/min DEM SpA www.demgroup.com

• Adaptive straightness control – automatic roll set-up for increased up- time, with in-line closed-loop control to produce straight bars • High-speed shear – to grant a speed of 5m/s for bars shorter than 2m, or 10m/s for longer bars. Top cutting speed of 150 cuts/min with a length tolerance of less than 1mm/m • Wire weight control – to roll wire to the lowest tolerance allowed by the standards by measuring the wire weight per metre in-line • Direct wire rolling – a capstan-free line solution for easy line threading. With automatic roll gap positioning and fast set-up, production change-over time is cut by 75 per cent • Quick cassette change – allows a cassette changeover in four minutes and, with the support trolley, avoids the use of external lifting devices, improving operator safety

The company also supplies technology for the fabrication of cold rolled or stretched reinforcing wire; for the calibration and annealing of IT spring wire; and for the forming of cored wire. Coilers, spoolers and bar bundle facilities complement the lines to collect the end products. In addition to full automation controls, DEM’s Wire Up digital platform is an IIoT package developed specifically for the wire industry. Augmented reality togeth- er with advanced connection solutions allow for remote maintenance/commis- sioning. DEM also supplies cassettes and auxiliaries for CRLs, and micro cassettes and tooling for drawing lines. Krenn GmbH & Co KG Krenn is a specialist in cutting and straight- ening wire and bars. The company’s elec- tro-hydraulic straightener with recharge- able lithium-ion battery has been estab- lished for more than ten years. The design has been improved, making it tougher and more powerful. The battery-powered KTR-3 ACNL hydraulic straightener handles wires/bars up to 32mm maximum diam- eter, with a 380-bar operating pressure and Spirka Schnellflechter GmbH At wire 2022, Spirka Schnellflechter will exhibit a medium heavy braider in combination with a suitable winding line for heavier copper and steel wires. This braiding machine has an application range for cables up to 45mm and steel and copper wires up to 0.4mm diameter. It is suitable for thread tension up to 35 N, and can handle spools with a maximum flange diameter of 98mm. Read the full story in the March issue Inductotherm Heating & Welding will be highlighting its Radyne Spring Wire Line system at wire 2022. With a number of successful installations in wire producing companies, the system is distinctive in its use of a water quenching system rather than the more traditional oil method. The system provides environmental benefits and improved process control, as well as preventing dimensional distortions. Read the full story in the March issue 11-metric-ton pressure capacity. Eco-designed lubricants for cold heading operations

to perform under high temperature (between 400 and 650°C). Showing high performance, Extrugliss 268 WF is also a dual-purpose oil, specially formulated to provide lubrication to machinery as well as for the warm forming process. Used as a dual-purpose oil, it can prevent cross contamination to sustain lubricant performance for longer and extend sump life. Condat states that the vegetable- based Extrugliss 268 makes it possible to produce difficult parts while increasing machine efficiency and reducing tooling budget. The high flash point ensures lower smoke and reduces fire hazard. Extrugliss 268 WF oil reduces impact on the environment and gives operators a better working environment. Condat SA www.condat.fr

Condat specialises in the field of industrial lubrication. Its lubricants are used in the metal working market, in particular for cold heading processes. Committed to a responsible approach, the company offers its customers technical solutions that allow them to reduce their impact on people and on the environment. To supply the industry with greater readability of its eco-design lubricant offering, Condat’s Lubriscore® self-scoring system allocates a number of stars to products showing a “virtuous profile” on life cycle criteria: raw materials and design, production, transport, use and end of life. The Lubriscore rating is available for a wide range of Condat lubricants, including metalworking fluids and cold heading oils. One example of a three-star Lubriscore product is Extrugliss sustainable cold heading oil. Extrugliss 268 WF was designed for warm forming applications
