Rosendahl introduces new double spooler The new RODS1250 H semi-automatic double spooler from Rosendahl is suited to high-speed insulation processes, and presents an opportunity to upgrade existing lines.

The double spooler is set up for products of up to 15mm in diameter, and also for flat cables. It reaches speeds of up to 1,500m/min for reels of a maximum 2,500kg in weight. The RODS1250 H can change between two spools at full production speed without any limitations. The automatic reel change cycle takes only a few minutes, while the machine is subsequently loaded and unloaded manually. All types of metal core product are suitable for the double spooler. It is equipped with the Siemens control S7-1500, and is an assembly- and maintenance-friendly machine.

When designing the new winder, Rosendahl was working from a list of requests and requirements. At the top of the list were CE conformity to cover European standards, and all safety requirements. The new RODS1250 H offers a rigid machine frame for a wide range of products, with a product clamp for easy thread-up, and includes a height-adjustable traverse pulley unit for improved winding quality.

Reusable expansion spool Uhing’s expansion spool, designed for sustainability and ease of operation in winding applications, is based on the easylock® fast-action clamping system.

for recycling. The reusable expansion spool offers the benefit of low energy requirements; itworkspurelymechanically and does not require additional cardboard or wooden cores that must be separated from the wound material during recycling. This sustainable solution saves working time and resources because the spool – once purchased – can be reused multiple times. The expansion spool is currently offered in three sizes, for shaft diameters of 15, 20 and 25mm, and winding capacities of 1,050 to 4,400cm 3 . The full PWM range includes small, lightweight handheld manual machines for fine wire up to 1.2mm (0.047"); manual and powered models that can be used on a workbench or supplied with a trolley for wire from 0.3 to 6.5mm (0.0118" to 0.256"); and large, free-standing rod welders for material up to 30mm (1.181"). PWM’s products are precision engineered in-house and tested to ensure accuracy. The company manufactures industry- standard dies and can produce custom- made dies for specific applications. The spool expands, increases its diameter and is then ready to take up material wound onto it. By unlocking the positive release variant of the Uhing easylock®, the spool reduces its diameter, and the material wound on it can be easily stripped off its core. The operation is simple, clamping and unclamping without tools and with only one hand. “It was the idea of one of our customers that led to this simple solution,” explained Wolfgang Weber, Uhing’s managing

director, “and this purely mechanical implementation featuring a long-time Uhing product – the tried and tested Uhing easylock® – offers ease of use and prevents additional waste.” The areas of application for the new expansion spool are coreless winding, winding of faulty material, or winding of edge trim or superfluous material

Strip and rod welding PWM’s redesigned ST40 strip welder has a welding head that can be positioned

either vertically or horizontally on the trolley, to suit awide variety of applications and production set-ups. The air/hydraulic- powered machine, specifically designed for strip, can weld non-ferrous material up to amaximumwidth of 45mm (1.772") and aminimum thickness of 0.2mm (0.00787"), depending on material properties. Low-maintenance, fast and straight- forward to operate, the ST40 can be moved easily to the work area, saving effort and reducing downtime. The EP500 is a versatile cold welding machine for rod from 5 to 15mm (0.197" to 0.59"). Energy-efficient, clean, quiet and user-friendly, the electro/pneumatic EP500 produces permanent welds stronger than the parent material, helping
