Furnaces for aluminium and copper lines

Continuus-Properzi the process of continuously casting and rolling non-ferrous rod in the 1940s. The company is now a major provider of non ferrous wire rod production equipment, offering complete CCR lines including furnace sets, casting equipment, rolling equipment and double spoolers. Its furnaces and combustion division supplies furnaces for both aluminium and copper lines as well as fume treatment systems. Furnaces are available to process and refine scrap generated during the downstream production process, and also scrap sourced from the market, with a positive impact on the environment. The Properzi organisation provides technology for the production of aluminium and copper wire rod around the world. The copper rod can be produced from either cathodes or 100 per cent low-quality copper scrap. In addition, Continuus-Properzi’s experi- ence and knowledge of the needs of cable manufacturers has enabled it to design a range of casting and rolling lines for the production of high-quality aluminium or copper rod specifically for cable producers’ internal consumption. Other available product lines include Pro-Form continuous rotary extrusion machinery for a wide range of applications in copper and aluminium; the Vert-Melt furnace for aluminium; and the Self-Annealing Microrolling® (SAM) machine, which processes 8mm copper rod down to 1.8-2mm soft wire without an annealer, providing energy savings. Spare parts are available for all systems to ensure durability and operation. The spare parts office can create customised annual packages that offer economic advantages. pioneered

Other after-sales services include on site technical assistance and remote technical consultancy.

Properzi is able to supply its equipment on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis, so that the buyer is only minimally involved with the installation of the plant. Continuus-Properzi SpA www.properzi.com New intelligent pre-heater

Shaft and holding furnaces of a CCR CU line

Nordson Measurement & Control Solutions (formerly NDC Technologies) is launching a new intelligent pre-heating technology for the production of extruded cables. The Nordson Smart Temp preheater, in the Beta LaserMike product range, is claimed to make the extrusion process faster and easier, while improving product quality and productivity. Features include a touchscreen display, integrated temperature control, easy recipe set-up, auto-range selection and multi-directional line heating. Operators need detailed product information in order to obtain an accurate open loop. Guesswork can result in temperature discrepancies or inconsistency. With the Smart Temp controller, the facility can run in closed-loop control, which not only improves accuracy but also eliminates operator error when changing wire or adjusting settings, providing consistent results.
