Super-small pellet for improved dispersion and colour homogeneity
The versatility of SSP in particle size allows production from small batches of 25kg to large volumes as needed. This flexibility is advantageous in manufacturing PVC films, compounds and rigid profiles, where achieving optimal dilution is critical. The ability to produce small batches supports customisation of colours and properties, enabling Delta Tecnic customers to meet specific application needs. The SSP production process also has a lower carbon footprint than traditional methods, because it eliminates the need for mills and other energy-intensive equipment. This approach not only enhances efficiency but also promotes sustainability by reducing resource consumption and waste generation. By minimising energy requirements and waste production, SSP represents a more eco-friendly option for plastic manufacturers. Delta Tecnic SA www.deltatecnic.com
rather than fewer larger ones. This enhances the quality of the final product, ensuring visual uniformity without irregularities. In the PVC industry, where raw materials are often in powder form, the use of large pellets can lead to settling issues, where heavier grains settle at the bottom of the mix. The SSP offers a more uniform size, minimising such problems. Reducing pellet size also facilitates better integration into the mix, preventing segregation issues and ensuring a homogeneous distribution of colour and additives. The SSP is manufactured using an advanced process distinct from traditional cryopellet production, which typically involves cryogenic grinding. This new manufacturing method reduces the generation of fine particles, which enhances product quality and improves worker safety: smaller particles are less likely to be inhaled during handling, reducing the need for workers to wear masks during grinding processes.
Delta Tecnic, an expert in masterbatch manufacturing for the plastics industry, is launching a new product: the Super Small Pellet (SSP). The solution repre sents an advancement in masterbatch technology by offering improvements in colour homogenisation and efficiency in transformation processes. Pellet size is an important factor in masterbatch manufacturing. The market has traditionally used standard granules. While functional, these have certain limitations in colour dilution and homogenisation in final products for specific applications. Over time, Delta Tecnic has developed different pellet sizes, ranging from micropellets to small micropellets (SMP). The company has now released an even smaller pellet, designed to optimise dilution. Owing to its smaller diameter, the Super Small Pellet integrates more efficiently, covering the same colour surface area with a greater number of small particles
