EuroWire September 2023

4-7 September 2023 Shanghai, China

The production line for solar cables is a complex system that involves several machines working together. In its portfolio, MFL Group has all of the machinery required to go from raw material to the finished cable. The typical production process starts with a Frigeco rod breakdown machine, followed by a tinning line from Coseco. Once the wires have been tinned, they are passed through a multi-wire drawing line, and then through the double stranding machine. After that, the Frigeco extrusion line for solar cable comes into action.

››› the possible efficiencies and gains from the Topography Scanner, 3D Factory Simulation, Online Curing Control, PP technology and other Smart solutions. New requirements from energy, com munications and infrastructure are lead ing to new developments. Maillefer will be exhibiting its capability to reach 750 kV cable production, and demonstrating with 3D simulation the value of a digital cable manufacturing twin. Experts will be on hand to discuss expanding capabilities for subsea cables, solar energy/photovoltaic cable, CV lines for energy cables, and local service and support with Maillefer Aftermarket. Sustainability has taken a significant role in product design, and Maillefer will highlight the advantages that its solutions provide in answering customer concerns regarding increased environmental responsibility. Maillefer Extrusion Oy www.maillefer.net MFL Group provides a complete range of machinery for wire and cable manufacturers. Through its 125-year history, the group has gained know-now and decades of experience in the wire and cable machinery industry, along with the acquisition of three companies – CM Caballé, OM Lesmo and Eurodraw Energy – that complement its strengths and bring valuable intellectual property into its wire and cable division. In 2022, MFL Group also acquired Coseco, a specialist in lines for the electrolytic coating of copper wire (tinning, silvering, etc); plants for the continuous pickling of welded tubes in stainless steel; plants for regenerating sulphuric acid; and other auxiliary equipment. This addition to the portfolio enables the group to provide turnkey solutions for solar photovoltaic cable manufacturers. Mario Frigerio SpA Stand: E1 C23

are perfectly filled due to the regulated wire tension, regardless of the spool filling. The D 632 is suited to processing copper alloy fine wires such as CuSn0.3 into bunches for automotive wires. Using the “stretch forming and straightening technology”, the D 632 avoids the crowning and spiralling effect typical of certain copper alloys. The maximum production speed is 300m/min, and the strand cross-section ranges from 0.09 to 6mm². The BMV 24 vertical lever-arm rotary braider with 24 bobbin carriers has several special features. Multiple monitoring systems enable unattended operation over longer periods of time and without frequent operator intervention. It is designed for the processing of bare or plated round or flat wires made of copper, aluminium or stainless steel with a cross section of 0.02 to 0.56mm² (for Cu soft), as well as artificial yarn and fibres. Maschinenfabrik Niehoff GmbH & Co KG Niehoff Machinery Changzhou Co, Ltd www.niehoff.de Rosendahl Nextrom will showcase its latest manufacturing solutions for cable and wire, optical fibre and shock tubes, with a special emphasis on equipment and processes for the production of datacom and high-voltage cables. Visitors will be able to explore how the company’s equipment and processes for metal communication cables can enhance product quality while optimising material usage and energy consumption. For high-speed data cable production or customised processes for specialised metal cable applications, the solutions can deliver efficiency and stability. Maschinenfabrik its Chinese subsidiary Niehoff Machinery Changzhou Co, Ltd (NMC) will display an MMH 121 multi-wire drawing machine; a D 632 double twist bunching machine; and a BMV 24 braiding machine. The company’s after-sales service will also introduce its offer of spare parts with the “Niehoff Original+” label. These products help increase the efficiency of Niehoff systems over the long term. The MMH 121 multi-wire drawing machine is designed to draw 32 wires on two levels simultaneously, with high productivity (up to 35m/s), a low wire break rate and energy-saving operation. The machine is expected to be used for copper wires, and is operated by means of the standardised NMI (Niehoff machine interface), a network compatible touchscreen that enables intuitive operation. The intelligent technology of the machine allows it to measure, save and use machine data, production data and process data according to Industry 4.0. The D 632 double twist bunching machine was built by NMC under Niehoff licence. With a single-bow design in combination with the energy-saving Eco-Bow, the machine is claimed to consume less energy during operation than conventional one- or two-bow bunchers. It also allows a reduction in material usage, because it produces strands with very tight tolerances, so only the minimally required copper cross-section is used. The NBAT opto-electronic traverse system and the precise functioning of the machine enable one operator to control multiple machines. The spools Niehoff and
